Finally!

Picked this up Saturday afternoon,

I'm just amazed at how easy the whole thing has been.. I guess it's true what they say about bigger bikes being easier to ride. The main thing I was worried about was the weight but it's no where near as heavy as I thought it was going to be!

Enough of the boring stuff, yesterday went on my first ride and did about 90 miles on her! The sound when she fires up on the button Wub It's at 33BHP but I have no idea how, apparently throttle linkage system?

It gets just over 60 in first gear and I backed off at 88 in second.. tops out not much over that Laughing

The howl she makes is just awesome I've always wanted a decent sounding bike, would be even nicer with a proper jobby exhaust but that can wait!

Seriously amazed that this is only putting out a third of what it will be un-restricted. Though at the moment it does feel very controllable I've never scared myself and already I rode it pretty hard after getting used to it. It's so confidence inspiring and feels planted compared to my 125, brakes are good aswell just everything is so smooth!

I'm wondering if it's restricted by the ECU or something because it gets up the revs ok and sort of gives you a taste of what it's going to be like, it teases you! My mates bike doesn't let him go over 7k revs as it's restricted so I'm glad that's not the case on this.. I felt confident on it straight away which is good!

I can't comprehend if this is 33bhp what the likes of the S1000RR and 200bhp must feel like Shocked

It does need a good clean up, which is what I'm gonna go do now if it doesn't rain, so I'll put more pictures up later!

Cheers lads Thumbs Up

Very nice Mr. Green Remove cat and get a nice exhaust on there Thumbs Up

If you come to the BBQ again, you can have a go on the CBR... that is a bit more than 33hp Wink

Good choice fella. Thumbs Up
Probably the easiest handling machine I tried when I moved up.
It just lacked a little power for me but I really couldn't fault anything else about it and if the dealer I went to hadn't been so much of a knob, I may have been riding one around today. Wink

Nice tyres btw.
I seem to have a weird tyre fixation today. Confused Embarassed

I believe they are. Thumbs Up
They seem to be one of the better wet grip/wear/price tyre options available at the moment. Wink

Awesome first bike Thumbs Up

Just a word of warning from a weakling that you'll likely never need.
But I too was worried about the weight of a larger bike, but after a short ride on my SV (one of the lightest 650's) I thought nothing of it.
However Laughing

... (Loading rambling post) ...

It's the slow speed stuff that is when you need to be cautious. I'm sure the clip'ons on my SV doesn't help me, but my tumble was at slow speed as have a few other near ("Oh Shit") misses.
Always come to a gradual stop especially on loose surfaces, slamming on the brakes pushes you forward and throws you off centre balance ... triggering a "oh no" panic to recover the bike balance.

Also, with a 125 you could almost coast on slow speed manoeuvres like U-Turns with little throttle input.
Might be a V-Twin engine braking thing, but without any throttle input the bike becomes a dead weight Sad

You likely know all this, or wont have any issues at all.
But I'd feel a bit bad if I didn't post this, only to find out it could of helped you save your Hornet from a concrete kiss. Thumbs Up

TLDR - Slow speed maneuvers "can" go wrong easier on a big bike, Rogue_Shadow needs to man up Embarassed

Well, she's had a clean.. but didn't even touch the wheels as I didn't have the time.. can't wait to attack them though!

The tyre pressures were 24 & 33 when they should be 36 & 42 Laughing

So that has made the bike feel completely new yet again.. tyres felt warm when I stopped, absaloutely love it, just glides into corners!

And the sun came out so I did a cheeky 60 miles.. roads were clear.. just brilliant Thumbs Up

Oh and thanks for the advice rogue shadow, I have been actively thinking it's going to be heavy at slow speeds! Doesn't help I have to push it down all sorts of obstacles down the garden.. out of breath by the time its away Laughing

She's come up pretty nicely, when it's warm I'll properly clean it!

:O

60 in first? Ya bastard Very Happy
ER-5 feels like it's gonna blow up after getting to 30 in first, never mind 40-50 (what ever it will get to in 1st, don't think it even gets to 50 tbh!) LOL

Looks sweet - but the headlight-come-screen combo is a bit too decepticon for my tastes.

much prefer the side panels of the newer hornets but I don't like the headlight, I like it more on the older ones with the round headlight

very good choice though, welcome to the club lol
