I decided to get the top back on the zxr, and after a couple of coughs and splutters... I got this:

Although there is a rattle from the top, which I've removed the carb... again, checked the cct and that seems tight enough, so I don't know if it now has short shims or it's because the oil hasn't worked its way round the engine properly yet.... but It's a start

Really hard to tell from a video but rattle? Sounds like blowing?

Would have covered the top end in oil prior to fitting together.

Double check all seals on the exhaust.

It rattles... quite badly.... oh and I did coat the top in oil Paddy

The exhaust is falling apart, it would probably work better if I just took the end can off for now to be honest, the weld at the back of the can has cracked, there's no padding inside, there is massive gaps on the ends etc

For some strange reason it only rattles when idling. The clutch is slipping to the point where it is virtually non existent until about 5k rpm. I don't know if it's just because it hasn't been run for a while, but the oil is being thrashed to a cream, but goes back to normal colour after a few minutes.

I have found there is oil leaking from the front sprocket area, there is a water leak somewhere, but I can't tell where, the throttle seems to stick slightly when in neutral, but seems fine when in gear.... but other than that, it seems to run fine

A quick update here, the rattle seems to be settling down a bit, the oil isn't pissin' out as bad as it was (still a noticable drip though, worst case is I have a free scottoiler somewhere around the front sprocket Thumbs Up )

I've actually managed to do .6 miles, although I think there may be a leak in the clutch system somewhere as it still wants to roll forward, will sometimes stall (with the clutch held tight), is difficult to get into neutral with the engine running and every time I've bled the clutch a large puff of air comes out Crying or Very sad
