Insured last year via MCE and this is due for renewal in three weeks time.
Haven't even thought about getting quotes just yet.

Last weekend on Easter Sunday at 10am - missed call, so I googled the number and it was MCE, they called again later that day - So I politely told the guy that it was Easter Sunday and didn't he realize this?
Then they proceeded to call me on Mon and Tues several times.

On Tues afternoon I took the call and explained to the guy who asked me if I was staying with them another year that I couldn't answer that as they haven't even sent me a renewal quote and I wanted to shop around - obviously. After I also complained to him about their endless calls he informed me he would take me off their calling list.

So guess who calls me this morning at 8.40???? Arghhhhh stupid ppl how many times do you have to tell em??
No wonder insurance can be expensive as they need to cover their telephone costs!!!

Urghhh rant over! Confused

Good rant. Do you feel better?

When companies behave like this it makes me want to take my business elsewhere, irrelevant to the price.

I think a few (million?) people have had various issues with MCE. They still call me occasionally about a claim I made with someone else.

Had a few random calls from them before just from whacking a quote in online. Told them numerous times to remove my number from their system and they hadn't.

The last time I had a call from them I made it very clear that I wasn't happy and put on my angry phone voice ;D. Seemed to do the trick. Not had a call for months Smile.

They were working on Easter Sunday. Fair play to them.

Why get stressy if they call you then? It is just another day in the week.

Don't ever go with MCE though.

When I get quotes or insurance I put in mobile number 07123456789, ring that one suckers! If I need to contact insurance company all contact is letter or email only. Comes in very handy should you need to know who said exactly what and when 6 months further down the line.

Not Stressy Paddy just annoyed - there is a difference between drumming up business & hassling ppl endlessly! And they are off my books for insurance now!! Wink

Hmm that is perhaps the best way to do things in the future joncrete cungle - especially like you say in being able to prove things!!

You could try a few of my dads tricks.

Mumble really quietly a few times to you are sure they have turned their speaker up. Then scream as loud as you can down the phone.

Asked them to tell you all about it then leave the phone on the side.

When this ask is Mr X there say yes I'll just go get him and leave the phone on the side.

Or you could write on their facebook page the problems you are having. When people are moaning in the PD they tend to care more.

Preferred MCE to bikesure, rarely had dodgy calls from mce yet bike sure rang me about a quote I did...then questioned my current policy as I had mentioned having two work bases, the bitch then says i'm not insured correctly on my current policy as I've not stated I have two fixed work addresses (wasn't even an option or mention of anything like that in the policy and i'm pretty sure she was talking out her arse)

Next think you know they're trying to charge me an admin fee as they've changed my policy to reflect the address on my old driving license (my old house) making my bike insured at an address I haven't lived at for years, then they had the nerve to try and charge me for it a whopping £60!!!!

Luckily I was still in the cancellation period so I told her to stuff the policy and cancel the lot!

Not going back to them cunts!

To be honest I'm not having any problems with MCE yet either, and they have definitely been the cheapest for me by quite a long way... OK the excess is a bit OTT, and their admin costs are a rip off, I've had to contact them once to have the gpz added to my policy and because I was using a mobile they called me straight back.

Even when I took the policy with MCE I was getting calls, I'd let them go through all the details, laugh at the quote (insured for just over £300 for 2 bikes and even telling the other companies this (eventually) they think that I would be interested in insuring just 1 bike for over £500), then tell them I'm already insured.... which they never seem to fully understand as back then they would call the next day to try again

i did a random quote on a compare site once.. the top insurer.. 'be wiser' or something like that called, i missed the 1st call. they called again, i answered and told them i was just looking at quotes, not interested in buying.

they then called 3 more times whilst i was on my way home and called again around 7pm whilst i was eating my dinner. i answered and went ballistic at them for not only calling 6 times in one afternoon but for not paying attention when i told them i wasn't interested when i did 1st speak to them.

the poor guy was very apologetic and sure enough i've not had a call since Smile

don't go ballistic, troll them instead, make up whatever scenario you can think of such as 'interrupting a gang bang' 'executing a goat during a ritual' 'hiding a corpse' etc etc

I was hounded for days and days last week by MCE.
The really annoying thing is that they kept hanging up on my wife, obviously waiting for a man to answer the phone Mad
Got so fed up of the ghost calls I rang back and spoke to a manager and told them to cease all calls immediately.
It has worked.

Lesson learned- do not give your real number out, even on a comparison site! Thumbs Up

A week before my insurance ran out with Bennett's they contacted me once at mid day again mid afternoon. They stopped for a white then decided they would ring my second phone of choice I put down on the previous policy a further time in the evening.

In the end I got fed up of being disturbed and got in a "huff" and decided to change to bikesure.

Matt,

Where you and the OP are going wrong is.....
You are entering the wrong number when getting a quote.
Use this one.

MCE have rung me 8 times in a week, along with 1 email and 2 letters regarding a renewal. Bollocks.

If you do go with another insurance provider, be sure to call MCE to cancel your insurance as many policies "auto renew" if you don't state otherwise. Thumbs Down

Get yourself a free 0871 number. I use one on all the online stuff.

They still often call but nice to know you are charging them for the pleasure.

I'm surprised MCE have not been on here like most other companies would, declaring their heartfelt apologies.

Seems they are one of the less likely to give a shit about customers.

My favourite trick is when they ask for Mr. Bloggs or whatever, just say "I'm sorry, he's got my cock in his mouth at the moment, he's asked if you can call him back?"

Laughing

eBike went from "you can only renew online" to "OK you can call our 0845 number" to "actually have an 0800 number" to "click here and we will call you back" to just calling me.

At no point was the monkey instantly prepared to offer the price that I had already been offered with a new quote (from eBike!), so I just did the "please hold while I get a pen" and then went back to wanking working.

They really all do seem determined to piss us off at their own cost.
