Hi, I'm new to biking. Took my CBT last month & bought a Honda City Fly. I've been a car driver for 20 years.
So far I've fallen off once, trying to do a u-turn on a sloping road and lost balance.
Twice lost the back-end when going around a roundabout , but managed to recover.
I've just booked my theory test for Dec and hope to take the standard test in June 05. I was going to try for DAS, but just don't feel confident enough yet. |

The confidence will come, if you do an assessment with an instructor and after the first day you will feel much more confident and the instructor will tell you if you are ready to go onto the bigger bikes, if not then just do it on a 125, its not the end of the world and as im vertically challenged and couldnt fit on the 500's it was fine for me and now after 8 months I ride a vfr400.
Good luck with the theory |

I hate U turns! If I never do another one in my life it will be too soon, I avoid them at all costs and will ride for another mile down the road to a roundabout rather than do one. If I do have to do one now my feet are down!
In all seriousness though, it took me 2 days to master them and I couldnt do them at all when I started my course, if you have a good instructor then you wont have a problem. Just dont worry about them, go with the flow of it and remember to look further down from the point you want to end up and NEVER look at the curb as that is where you will end up if you do!
As for the weight of the 500, sit on it and see how you feel. |
