I live over the way from there. Good facility. Looked fairly busy up there today, like 30-40 cars IIRC.

It was busy, but thinned out after 2pm. The dual slalom is the best bit there, couldnt really get to grips with the other bits.
Every time I came to a jump all I could think was about breaking bones and no job lol. Neutral
Even still it was excellent fun and highly recommend.

Im waiting on some proper shorts to arrive so jeans will do, I feel quite comfortable in jeans even when cycling. Most of the other people there had almost full motocross gear on with armour etc.

There are a couple of huge DH runs on the other side that start up near the pump track. They are fair more lairy than the dual slalom though. Too lairy for me at the mo. Razz

Dual slalom will still bite you if you're daft. Razz

Full facer definitely recommended if you're going to be spending a lot of time there IMO.

Yup, we went and looked at those and said fuck that. We had a go on the tiger pump bit and a couple of small other little downhill bits and went back to the other hill. Saw some dude fall off in a big way on the big downhill course. Shocked
We came away thinking about getting a full face lid and perhaps some armor to wear underneath.
Dual slalom was damn good, but like you say easy to smack into a tree or something....

Sucks a bit when they get really wet but then I've never had any of that fancy riding gear Laughing

Always wanted to ride Chicksands but the opportunity has never presented itself neither has any viable roadtrip options Sad

I don't like all that jumpy shit, I just prefer riding trails, doesn't hurt as much if you fall off.

Hehe it can still hurt when falling off on trails Razz Depends on speed and trees and the sudden loss of speed due to trees!!

Jumping and drops isn't for everyone. Sometimes the best feeling is railing a berm like a pro, or getting your drift on and throwing up some dirt going sideways.

Either way; 2 wheels is probably the most fun thing to do Mr. Green

How do you rate the Scott voltage fr? Thinking of buying something with full suspension and I like the look of the fr30 from evans cycles.

Back over to chicksands today for the first time in ages. Not on the actual bike park proper, on the trails around it. They've dug over loads of the surrounding woods to plant more conifers. Makes certain section rather tricky. Laughing

I tend to ride around the woods on a Wednesday. I had a look at the actual bike park, but it was well above my skill level. Young lads there doing 12ft high jumps. I'd die!

Bike Park was dead, literally 1 car there and the Thai van, that was it.

I need to up my commitment/skill a bit before I do the more lairy stuff there. Dual slalom/4x is about my max atm.

No, most probably will be this afternoon though. I ride for about an hour at around 4pm until 5pm, just riding around all the trails. If you see a guy in beige shorts on a grey Trek, that'll be me!

Fair. I'll keep an eye. I tend to ride in beige straights with 661 knee guards on a Spesh Rockhopper.
