Tinted/Blacked-out Windscreen (Bike)

After what felt like hours of searching the net for advice on tinted windscreens I have given up and decided to come here.

I have only 3 questions regarding the tinting/blacking-out of a bike windscreen.

1. Are their any UK laws regulating/prohibiting the tinting/Blacking-out of a bike windscreen?

2. Does the insurance company need to be informed?

3. Has anyone ever had any trouble with the police over the tinting/black-out of their screen?

I am aware of the 75% light requirement for a visor and car windscreen, but as I don't look out of my bike screen I cant see any reason for the tinting of it to be regulated.

I think. However, i'm not 100% sure i'm right....just never had any problems despite many tinted screens.

I have seen bikes with screens that are completely opaque, not even letting a hint of the brightest of light through.

Never seen or heard of them have any bother.

Admittedly they were on sports bikes, and the rider can, in a natural position, quite easily see over the screen without any difficulty, as you have to try to get your head down below the screen.

On a tourer though, that'd probably be a different story, as the screen may well be in eyeline, in which case it may cause trouble.

its not like a car where you have to look through the windows to see out, you look over your screen not through it and you can see clearly all round it...

The only potential issue that I can see is that we had one guy get nabbed for having a Northern Ireland "test certificate" disk displayed behind a tinted screen (and in what the copper claimed was an inadequate holder). The regs on that are the same as for VED disks, so to avoid any possibility of grief, I'd suggest that if you bother displaying VED that you do it somewhere else on the nearside of the bike rather than behind the screen.

I supposed technically the tinted screen could be classed as a modification, so I suppose technically you should inform your rapist, sorry insurers about the change.
