M&P Crap? or just a bad experience?

So I ordered some bits through M&P Direct, not an massively expensive order but am really not impressed with their service.

Firstly I kinda made a mistake, I ordered some 8mm fuel pipe an 8mm filter and some 8mm fuel line clips, the site does not mention the external diameter of the fuel pipe so it's not totally my fault but the clips obviously do not fit. I'd just like the clips swapping for the right ones. Also the 1m of fuel pipe is nearer 90cm but it will still do the job.

Anyway I emailed customer services last Wednesday on the day I received the order, and I then emailed sales on Friday and have not received any reply...

Is this usual? Or have I been unlucky?

My new mirrors from M&P have rotted in 3 days. There is barely a dot of rust on my noodle box in 9km'ish of riding, but my M&P mirrors went from black to brown in 3 days.

Utterly terrible.

Will never use again - ordered a YBR screen, diddnt show up after near enough three weeks, they expected me to wait another month for it. Wouldnt respond to emails & ended up having to file a paypal case against them to get money back. Got screen from a german ebay seller, had it in my hands within three days.

With line, filter & clips your local bike shop will have a selection on the shelf and sell it by the foot. I'd not bother paying postage on it

I bought a brake caliper piston for my OH's Zephyr off of their eBay shop and the one they sent was the wrong size - it looked as if it had been incorrectly labelled. To be fair they offered a refund on return pretty quickly and they were quick delivering the original item. I've just ordered an Abba fitting kit off of them - we shall see how that and the refund goes...

Hit & miss. Thing with M&P, some stuff is far cheaper than you can get anywhere else. But the service tends to be haphazard. It's common for them to not have one or more item. But they don't bother to tell you, they send everything else. If you chase them they might say the *whatever it is* will be back in stock within a week. That's often two or three or four weeks.

I tend to place large orders well in advance of needing the bits. Given how much I save over shopping on ebay, Wemoto, Yambits or the like, it's worth the risk, IMHO.

Some of their bits are absolutely shite. Bought two cheapo indicator relays, each of which lasted barely a month. But at under 3 quid a pop, wasn't worth chasing them up. Also had a battery off them which lasted no time at all. But generally speaking, they're worth using, so long as you understand that to keep their prices at the level they do, corners have to be cut.

I had an issue with Wemoto. Ordered a chain for my NSR and they sent me the wrong split link and it wouldn't fit the retaining pin on. Unfortunately I was new to bikes and did not know this and tried for an age, thinking it was me, to get this back on.

Eventually realised my error and emailed 'em - but it was too long to actively seek a refund, and so just told 'em it was wrong and wanted them to be aware for future reference.

Indeed, Wemoto are excellent. Even better are Yambits. I've ordered stuff from them at 3 in the afternoon and had it the next morning bright and early. But they're not cheap for most things. Some bits are jaw droppingly expensive. Having said that, they do bits for old shitters you just can't get anywhere else.

M&P / Busters are/were shit.

Had a shitter of a time trying to get a sports rack from them a few years back.

That's often the problem I've had with M&P/Busters. They don't tell you it's not in stock until they have your money. Then you have to wait for x time until it comes in or start winging about a refund.

So you have to decide whether to pay more or take a risk as they are pretty cheap.

Just Ordered some cube trouser from them (Via eBay as free postage) I emailed them regarding sizes as they were just s, m, l etc. I asked what size i need for 40" they said 3xl!

Well they turned up yesterday ok, but 3xl turns out to be 38" waist not 40" so looking at 4xl, where as all my other clothes are just l or xl for space!

But lucky they fit fine with space, so I would in future make sure you go size or two bigger to be safe.

I've had the same typical experience with them as most others where I ordered stuff and was still waiting weeks later. Their customer service was awful and I'm pretty sure after about 6 weeks I got sick of waiting and got a refund.
