Here is the add for my tdr belgarda. Do yous guys think it will just need a top end or do you think more could be damaged....Hello and welcome to my auction for my TDR 125. This is the Belgarda (or sometimes called the Italia) model and was manufactured in Italy under license from Yamaha. It was never officially imported to the U.K so it is quite a rare bike. It was the first model manufactured, chassis prefix 3SH.

Basically it is the DT/TZR powervalve engine in a DT chassis with a beefed up front end, larger forks, brembo brakes front and rear, 320mm front disc, and 18in spoked wheels. Some parts may fit onto the TDR 250 but please check first.

I bought the bike last September to get me to work through the winter, with the intention of restoring it this summer, but last month the engine seized on me so it is currently sitting in my garage gathering dust, and being honest with myself it will probably stay there for quite a while as I've just bought an old ZXR 750 and have a couple of other bikes in the garage so room is tight and i'm not mechanically minded enough to have a go at the engine, so she has to go i'm afraid.

The bike itself got me through winter, has decent power and a top speed of around 130 kph which is just under 80 mph. It is MOT'd until October and taxed until September. The tyres are Conti Go's and are almost like new. Tyre sizes are 100 front, 130 rear.

When the engine seized up it locked the kickstarter but i bumped it free so now it kicks over but won't start. Like i mentioned I'm no mechanic but a top end rebuild should be all that it needs to get the bike going, the gearbox by the way is fine.

I bought a replacement screen from ebay as the one on the bike is not standard so that will come with the sale. I was going to respray it black along with the rest of the plastics.

Basically this is an easy project for a Yamaha/LC enthusiast, the bike is complete and roadworthy apart from the engine! There are a few fasteners missing here and there, a small rip in the seat (I was going to recover it yellow), and a few other minor bits that aren't perfect, it is 22 years old so please bear this in mind, but mainly it is a sound starting point for someone looking to do their first resto, or an easy project for an expert ......

2 stroke buying, always factor in a rebuild, either top end or full.

If it seized and he bumped it... could have had a ring snap on a port, anything.

At the very little... another top end rebuild on there, maybe including the barrel, which are expensive.

At the worst, engine rebuild.

I am hoping it hasnt scored the barrel too much so maybe just a small rebore and a new piston and a small end bearing. Dont fancy a 400 quid barrel . Just trying too find out if th dt enginebis similar as I hsve been told its more like the tzr engine as my model was produced in italy and was ment too be the full power model.

I know the electric start TDR/DT125R and Derbi GRP125 engines are pretty much identical, but don't be trying to bag one cheaply... I'm after one also Wink

If you have the kickstart model only, then there are plenty on ebay.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-dt-125-complete-engine-/251258300832?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a802969a0

Plenty to choose from.

PJME do a 1 > 1.5 > 2mm oversize and can do a re-sleeve of the bore if needed.

Was this a white and red one?

I was watching it on ebay.

I dont think it has the full power engine in it, due to it having a kickstart. My old TDR125 never had a kick start and was a genuine Belgarda version.

Most likely someone has put a DT125 engine in it. Which is the reason i didnt buy it Laughing .

No it was a all black one mate in newcastle upon tyne. It has a kick start but it I have been on the italian google and searched it and all the belgarda tdr 125s had kick start on the 1991s mine is the belgarda with the excel spoke rims not the mag wheels as I believe they built the belgardas in two versions one with mag wheels amd one with spoke wheels. Are the true belgardas the 4dl engine?

evoboy and paddy are right, belgarda engines are electric-start only. The proper TDR engine has the code 3MB00 embossed on the cylinder block, as well as 4DL stamped on the crankcase halves, as it's this bike it came from.

Thumbs Up
