Not terribly exciting but may save someone a fair few quid.

I needed to hook my CRX up to my optimate as the alarm drains the battery over a number of weeks, and it isn't getting used at all so it never gets topped up.

I needed a male/female extension cable, and a battery harness (could have used the croc clips but not ideal).

The optimate uses Tamiya large type battery connectors that can be had for pennies on eBay.

The ovaled side of the connector is live.

My optimate charges at 0.8A max so just used some 3A dual core black/red cable.

Crimp the connectors on with a pair of pliers:

Push the connectors into the plug

I made a male/female cable, and then a connecting lead with rings for the battery made to length so I could tuck it into the loom:

The extension cable dangles from the rafters so I can rotate between my bikes and the car.

Please note that these cables are made up for charging only. Genuine Optimate cables/harnesses are made of 18AWG cable that will take as many amps as your battery/stator can throw at them... Therefore don't use anything less than 18AWG if you intend to run something off of the cable other than charging your battery... An example may be a optimate to cigarette adapter lead.

I use Deans or XC90 connectors easier to use and better amp rating.

Thumbs Up Very Happy

how are they compatible with an optimate?

I will add an inline fuse to the battery harness to protect the cable.
