well.. while me and Nike (my bike) were on our travels i came across this woman driving her car. as i look she is there with a fag in 1 hand and her phone in the other. Now this sends me into a "pissed off!" state. So i peep my horn and do a phone gesture with my hand. (While ranting ... obviously the fuck-wit couldn't see because of my helmet). after she realized I wasn't the police she then gave me a look as if to say that it was her phone therefore it's is up to her what she does.

So anyways! after steaming up my helmet with calling her all the names under the sun i carried on riding.

It fair to say it feels very re-assuring to see cagers taking our safety seriously. I don't know why but i get so pissed off when i see someone on their phone .. it just isn't on.

I get annoyed when people ignore how someone is driving and focus on what they are doing with their hands.

I don't care if someone has a phone in one hand and a vodka cocktail in the other if they're managing to stay observant and not swerve all over the place.

I do care if someone isn't paying attention and is swerving all over the place, despite no obvious distractions.

Presuming she had the fag in the hand on the wheel she quite possibly had more control than you - seeing that the clutch (guessing it was your left hand you had off) is hand controlled on a bike.
Amusing that you decide to show similar lack of control by talking to someone else and taking a hand away from the controls - just so you can criticise someone else for that!

I think when you ride a 125 and have no license, you should stfu and either pass or do epic training before being able to pass judgement on how others that have passed thier test go about thier business.

brake check her! If she hits you. She'll get done for driving without due care. Police will be able to use her mobile trace to establish that she was on her mobile as well as causing an accident.

Her marlboro will land on her crotch and she will have the same reaction as this girl -> notworksafe! -1 Girl 1 Cigarette!

Suffice to say, eyes on the road and not on other road users. You're on a bike, so my ethos is t's "out of sight, out of mind". There are a million and one other things in the world that would be of more concern than a bint in a car on her phone, such as a fatter look-alike of me with dodgy hair supposedly with some "weapons of mass destruction!"

In short, I'm not having a go at inexperienced riders and co, but I generally tend to find most posts are usually directed at other road users etc, thus signifying a possible source of distraction with consequences of resulting in the rider being put in a particular mindset.

It all pales into insignificance when you've driven and ridden in south east asia. So to end my little rant - Happy are those who don't complain

Funny you say that Dotty. I saw a woman on a phone today as I joined the A40 from Hanger Lane roundabout. Completely oblivious to everything. As we got onto the A40 she was dawdling along at 30 - 35. I signaled, moved for an overtake, and despite there being no cars in front of her in her lane as far as the eye could see, she moved into my lane as I was next to her at that moment, and jumped, I braked and moved right between the traffic in the lane to my right. Thankfully there was a gap, not sure why I didn't hit the brakes immediately, one of them reaction things I guess. She gave me the 'well where to fuck did you come from?' look and shouted something angrily at me.

Know what I did? I caught her at the next junction, dragged her out the car, throat punched her, did a burn out on her throat, and then killed a kitten and went home to tell people about it on the Internet.

Actually I didn't do that....

I slowed down, moved back behind her. She sped up to 40mph, the speed limit, and I figured someone as gormless as her was better off in front of me where I could see her than behind me where I couldn't see her. Had a relaxing ride home as well. Not often I get a clear run on the way home.

Oh then posted about it on the Internet!

Honestly, your going to see these people through out your entire biking life. Don't let them bother you, relax, and just keep an eye on them, and it might be a long and enjoyable biking life.
