FireBlade started having major problems at 30k, and they came thick and fast.
It didn't help that the bike lived outside, and prior to my ownership, only covered an average of 1500 miles a year. That soon changed when it got ramped up to 10k miles a year when I was on my graduate scheme.
So 30k, the following things went (mostly electrical)
Reg/Rec
Alternator
Cam position sensor
Various earth faults
And what I call wear and tear
Warped discs
New clutch
Suspension rebuild @ HM Racing (revalved rear shock and resprung fronts with linear springs matched to weight)
Camchain tensioner (started machine gun rattling)
And there was me thinking hondas were "reliable".
Now it lives indoors, on a trickle charge all the time, but I would consider the bike to be "refreshed" until it hits 60k miles, where the whole process starts again! ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &

My K4 SV at 24-25k, still less than a year old to me.
Apparently "solid" engines
Seeing as I will be holding onto it for my restriction years, I'm sure I'll find out |

There's no 410-420K option, nor a 80-90K one, so I can't vote on my RXS or Bandit 12. But I have a DT125R that's showing a mere 14,000 on the clock and seems to have had an owner in the past determined to wear out every component on the whole bike before 15K. Either that or the mileage is somewhat inaccurate
No idea what might have happened to it before I had it but the fat Bandit has given me no bother at all, except for a threaded mirror mount which may have been my own fault, in over 30,000 miles that I've had her.
The RXS has rarely been troublesome. Things wear out at a reassuringly predictable (very slow) rate. ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |
