hey all,

firstly i i would like to say hey to everyone that views this thread and welcome.

i have just picked up my new toy last night but it isnt anything special as its only a 50cc! i am now the owner of a gilera smt 50!!! i thought it was a right bargain at £400 for a 2004 plate with a years tax and 7 months mot Thumbs Up . it also has a few extras like: after market end can, uprated carb? (not sure).

the only problem so far is a possible fueling problem as it likes to cut out and also when i did get it to its max speed (on a private road) it lost all power and slowed right down? Thumbs Down

can any confirm that if it is a restricted are they located in the exhaust carb and airbox? Thumbs Up

thanks all any help would be great and pics will be up later due to it being dark when i got her home Smile

If it goes flat at top end it's probbably got a dirty carb with a blocked main jet, or someones been clever and buggered about with a fancy air filter/zorst without upjetting.

Run it flat out down the road & kill the engine. Then remove the plug & see what colour it is - or better yet post a photo. It'll give an idea of the fuel mix & what way its out if at all.

hey Iain, last night me and my house mate did a bit of work and think that the bike has the wrong fuel-air mix?

what jets would you put in for my bike if its got a mk exhaust, 21mm racing carb and derestricted airbox?

also does anyone know of a standard carb going in good condition will swap for my racing one Wink

Steady on, the cops will be at your door soon. Oh wait, you went 30 mph on a private road... as you were.
