I've got a problem with getting a very itchy scalp when wearing a crash helmet in the summer on long rides and its driving me mad. I did start using Menthogen spray for a while which worked but it doesn't last long.

Does anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions of what else to try?

I had the same for a little while, I hand washed the lining in the bath and the filth was ridiculous, solved the issue though.

Honestly the little chin bit of cloth that spans the, well the chin, was filthy enough to turn the water black on its own.

Is it vented well enough in the scalp area?

Could be just the particular helmet, I bought a HJC a while back and it itched like a git, but my Suomy's are fine.

Try wearing one of those thin balaclavas under your lid; I've found that it solves a lot of itching issues for me, and it's generally easier to keep it clean with a bit more regularity. I believe that you can get hold of silk ones, which should help keep you nice and cool.

When I bought my Shark helmet, It used to drive me insane with a hideous itch. I thought I'd spent a lot of money on an unwearable helmet.
I felt around under the lining and founds some small bobbles on the polystyrene liner thing, rubbed them off and it was problem solved.
Was relieved.

Ordered a silk head cap which is supposed to keep the head cooler under the helmet, Will have to see how it goes.
