Work have given me a 24" IMAC which they dont want anymore, and I thought I'd get it home and sell it, as dont need it.

Does or has anyone tried to transport an IMAC on the back of a bike. Dont really wanna drive through London in car, as traffic is crap.

Thoughts ?

I could barely fit my boxed one in my MX5 when I picked it up. Laughing

Ended up wedged in the passenger seat with the roof off and the window down (cos with the window up it got in the way of changing gear).

Don't think I'd bother trying to shift it by bike.

Its not boxed, so shouldnt be as big as if it was, but still pretty wide. Must remember not to try and filter with it on

Easy. I've got a whole Rock band guitar/drums/game etc boxed on the Varadero with my top box still in place.

I have a 21 on my desk and no way is it wider than my gsxr so filtering shouldn't be a problem.

Wrap it very well if you do try and move it - one speed bump or pothole could see you with a ruined iMac....

Bikes are better at carrying big things than cars, because you aren't limited by a shell! Hence how I managed to carry an almost complete H100 10miles on the back of an Africa Twin. Laughing

(and may have got 82mph with it, in an attempt to make it the worlds fastest h100 Laughing )

I would take a safer route and get a mate to help you transport it.

Just yesterday I was following some guy on a bandit and his bungee cord gave way and all his bear went onto the road fizzing in all three lanes. He did not notice until i stopped him at a set of lights, all i can say was that he was well pissed off. Laughing.

Can't you just lug it on the tube? Otherwise, just get a huge roll of gaffer tape, to hold it tight and not let it slip out.

First thought is I want a job where you get given a free iMac like its nothing.

Second thought is lay it flat on it's back, run bungees through the stand to hold it against the saddle, then some more over the screen in a cross pattern to stop it sliding back and forward when you accelerate/brake.

Alternately, get a mate to ride pillion with you and hold on to it.

Is there nobody at work who lives close who could take it to theirs, then you can just drive to their place one evening to pick it up.

I've done a G5 iMac and early white Intel one, just wrapped up in some fabric and a bin bag and bungeed to the back seat, against the top box.

Oh and; if you're going to sell, why not keep it at work and sell from there?

I got passed various servers at an old job - basically because they didn't want to have bother with disposal themselves.

Wheeled in to my office to sit under the desk, then either got collected from work or sent by courier, at which point the collection was organised by the stock team (sometimes they sorted the courier for me, coming out of my wages), who were the ones that gave it to me in the first place.
