I would say that is fair, make sure they fit genuine seals though not crappy pattern ones. Seals for my little NSR were £20 for two pairs, oil was £5. So £25 in parts, it took me 2 hours to do mine as I didn't have a clue what I was doing really Razz

I think if they are USD forks they are easier to do, or something.

Having seen Shauns manual page for the ZXR upside down forks I would say they are far more difficult than the NSR ones.

All the best

Well you can do it alot cheaper by doing it yourself, probably for half that.

BUT unless you've done it before, or unless its on a bike you can afford to mess up, paying £25 for the labour to do it is nothing really!

not sure if this also includes the ZXR400, but l heard that some kawasaki forks required a speical socket on a very long extension (length of fork) to undo the inner holding bolt for the station (for the fork to come apart). and that it would be best for a dealer/garage to do?

Kawasaki do require a special long socket to undo the inner bolt, however you can use a long bit of metal which I think was a from a set of shelves which worked with no problems. G if he reads this thread should be able to say what the bodged tool was from.

If you are going to pay a shop to do your fork seals I would find out a bit more about how they arrived at the £50, I'd want them to actually break down what parts you get for your £50, what consumables you get for your £50 (fork oil I hope) and how much labour is per hour and how many hours they are working on. I would have thought that sounds supringly cheap as it will take them about an hour to remove the forks from the bike and put them back on, as they have to remove the top fairing, front mudguard, front wheel and front brakes. If you then instead of just dropping the bike off with them take the forks out yourself and just drop those off.

Of course you could remove the fairing and mudguard and ride the bike to the garage. Maybe save a few pounds and the knowledge that your plastic is safe at home (FWIW my bike paintwork got scratched once but of course it was like that when it arrived sir - no it wasn't Evil or Very Mad).

Sounds good price to me. We paid £105 to have hubbys done on the Zed, just to find out that the seals only cost £5 of that Evil or Very Mad

My fork seals for my NS125R only cost £7 and the fork oil £5, and it was pretty easy to fit them (with a little help from a friend of course).

I think we were quoted £60 to have them fitted though, so in comparison, I would say that price sounds suspiciously low! But in saying that, I am a bit of a sceptic!!! Rolling Eyes

Ah, that makes sense now, it might be the point but we didn't know that until you mentioned it then.

Are you getting the oil done as well? I heard it would def be worth doing the oil, if you are doing the seals as well.

If I'm wrong please say.

A sorted front end is really, really nice. Very Happy Thumbs Up
