There is a Jaguar X type estate with 12 months MOT. Lovely condition going through the auctions tonight. I've always wanted a Jag and I need an estate.

It's a diesel on an 05 plate but, and it's a big but, it's done 225000 miles.

Am I stupid to even look at it. If not, how much is it worth at auction.

I have a ford C max granny mobile at the moment and I need a decent car!

Just over 28k a year.
Under 2.5k miles a month.

Stellar mileage, I'd buy it if the price was low enough. 12 months MOT, any advisories at all? On a Jag I'd be expecting suspension/steering to be refreshed by now...otherwise it would be rotting on its last legs Laughing

I very nearly bought one of those last week - a nice looking car. The estates hold their value a bit better than the saloons.

Too many miles for me though.

I had a new X-Type in 2001. Jaguar spent a shit-load in warranty on it but it was a nice drive.

I remember reporting a drive-line vibration to them. The girlie on service reception asked for details so I told her it appeared at 115MPH but was gone by 130MPH. She just looked at me and said that as the speed was illegal they would not do the work under warranty. I pointed out that I was frequently in Germany in this car. Workshop fitted rear propshaft and complete rear final-drive assembly. Smile

In my opinion the mileage is irrelevant, what would be relevant to me is and quote me if i'm wrong, the jag diesel engine is basically a ford mondeo tdci unit which is probably one of the most unreliable diesel engines ever produced!

Why would you enjoy losing control of the way you drive?

I've always found there's plenty of control with autos, by stamping the right foot real hard.

X type is a Ford Mondeo in disguise. The diesel has a nice bit of oomph to it. While nicer looking that the fugly or meh looking XJ and XF, 200k miles is really pushing it. A Mondeo can do that, but seems risky to me.

Depends what time you get there, in the car if you hit the cinema by six then you get a space, failing that I park in the bike bays on gate four...
