I'll say from the start, if you're here just to be a prick I have no interest.

Last night while out on what was supposed to be a little ride, I came around a left hand bend too fast, unable to brake enough or have the time to lean further, crossed to the opposing roadside and hit a kurb, throwing me rolling down the footpath, and the bike into a lamp post and sending it into the middle of the road.

I got away with a fractured collerbone, and graises on my knees as I was only wearing normal jeans.

My SV on the other hand....

and the road to give an idea...

I hit the kurb somewhere along where the bridge is, I and the bike ended up roughly where my car is.

I knew this day would come and I know I'm very lucky to not end up as Luke did considering it was probably the lamp post that stopped the bike ending up on top of me.

It has deffo taught me a lesson, and I had done well to last a year on that SV (MOT/Tax/Ins up next month), and I completly accept that this is my fault and I blame myself, But I'm okay, nobody else is involved and the bike is just a piece of metal.

Is it me or are SV's fragile?

Andy C's tree seeking missile was similarly destroyed (but with a perfect R&G bung), while yours too lost its front end entirely.

But heal up quick summer is just round the corner!

I await Big_ham and his spacker friends making comment on how you could have avoided the crash or even recovered from it whilst the bike was undressing itself.

Gglad you're OK and you can put it down as a learning experience, you won't do it again.

As for your SV ... THE FRONT END CAME OFF Shocked
How much force does it take to knock all that off?

Cheers guys.

I dont know what caused the front to snap off, I guess the kurb..

I'd say at time of impact, between 40-50mph, hard.

Cansa, Extreamly lucky, might go buy a lotto ticket in a min.

I expected a tight left hander in the country! That looks like a 30 maybe 40 zone max! You must of been going some?

Anyway, I'll give you a tenner for the half of the bike, may come in handy if I need parts

It is actually a proper back road, just a new junction added over the last few years, The slight straight boosted my confidence I think.

Looking at all the metalwork along that stretch of road you had a pretty lucky escape I'd say. Shocked

Treat it as a lesson in what not to do and GWS. Thumbs Up

As for the bike - blimey!

Um, I would think this kind of 'test' might be just outside the original design parameters. Rolling Eyes

The front has snapped where the headstock is welded to the frame, if it hadnt of snapped I imagine it would have just mashed the forks (which are bent, only replaced them a few weeks ago)

Paddy, I finished what you tried Razz
