Since I'm thinking of getting an enduro bike, I thought I'd better check out where I can legally ride in my local area. This is the South Wales valleys, all the hilltops are completely devoid of people, its all forest and moorland, with the occasional sheepfarm. I spent my childhood wandering around these hills, so I know there are vast areas covered in trails and paths.
After a bit of research, it seems that the only places open to motorised traffic are BOAT's. In my valley, there is precisely 1 BOAT. Its 2km long. In my entire county, there are 18kms of BOAT. In total. I mean, what the hell? Apparently there is an illegal off-road riding problem in my area. No wonder. Its a great place for offroading, and there's nowhere you can actually do it.
Is this a UK wide problem? I confess, I never realised just how bad the situation was in my local area.

TL;DR - So I'm going to be riding illegally then. ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR (Dead), '00 VFR800FI, '10 600 Hornet - Previous - '11 CBF125, '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win

In my borough there are four BOATS, 3 of them are closed half the year, and one is open all year. I still ride the open one, but then it's a trek to the next county to find another one.
I think when I get the CRF which will be a little bit more road capabable making travelling further afield easier, I will go to some of those pay and play places.
Though, after reading Yen Powell's post, I might just go and live in Wales! | Go to Wiltshire, they have 5 way green lane intersections there. One greenlane is also an army grass landing strip with signs every 50 feet telling you to watch out for Hercules landing. ____________________ Blackmail is a nasty word........but not as nasty as phlegm!
