Mirrors cracked. Will be purchasing 4th set of mirrors tomorrow. >.<

Heard my alarm going off, came out to see bike on its side, saw rear lights disappearing up the road, too far to see who / what car it was. Minor damage, mirrors cracked (again), front left indicator, bar ends scuffed, annoyingly, rear lights not working. Could happily whip mirror off and use hand signals for turning, but rear lights a pain. If I am riding in daylight is there any issues with the police riding without a tail light? Bit hard to commute without motorbike after having push bike stolen.

I wouldn't ride without a tailight. It could crop up a mass of issues if you have a crash - police/insurance.

That sucks mate, is there any where else you can store it, maybe on the pavement ? If it keeps happening its got to be one of your neighbours that can't park properly.
As for the tail light and the old bill, they may pull you but if you explain the situation they should be alright. Unless its a tail light and brake light together then they could give you a £60 ticket I believe.

First time its been bopped over.

First mirror cracked when I slid bike along its side.
Secound mirror went brown in 3 days (thanks M&P!)
Third mirror just cracked.

Bikes not even a year old and I am going to be buying my 4th set of mirrors. Neutral

As it goes, still have M&P mirrors, just didn't want them to inflict that amount of rust on my bike or have them rust in the mirror mountings (would be my luck with mirrors).

Do you mean brake light, or tail light? If its during the day and its just your tail light, then I can't see there being a problem with police etc. On the other hand, if its a brake light, get that fixed before you ride it fella. wouldn't want some bint rear ending you because they didn't see it come on.

Are you parked on a busy street?

Parked in a car park with no lights in the area. Theft hot spot for motorbikes. My bikes chained and alarmed with internal alarm and a disc lock alarm and thick Oxford chain.

scrape the rust back to bare metal,
let it start to rust again
coat with linseed oil
watch the rust turn black and seal the metal

It won't look particularly pretty (unless you're building a rat-bike) but it will stop it rusting any further.

What bike is it? I've got some ZZR 600 mirrors kicking about

Was late last night and I dont have any spare bulbs. Took it apart this morning, tightened things up, I think the little metal bit that holds the light bulb has broken.

Sorry to hear this Sad Some people just don't know how to drive! Even then if I'd damaged someone else'a property I'd at least leave a note!

If it is just the holder I'll bet it will be bodgable with some bits of wire and cable ties. Wink If the bulb filament has broken you can usually see.

Got home, pulled the light apart, and theres some little metal bits in there that had come lose. Some of the plastic bits holding the inside bit had broken. Well no problem! Bit of black tape and everythings working fine! Read light and brake light! Booyah! I am a mechanic now right? Very Happy

Well then I got ROBBED!

I shot around the block to grab a bag of chips. When I was at the shop, I came out to find someone trying to steal my rear light! BASTARD! I shouted at him and took chase! Called the police while running and they sent a police car! With the help of a helicopter we tracked him down as he jumped on a Daelim (which is a korean bike), where I dragged him to the floor and kicked the crap out of him! Full throat punch and everything! Took me an hour to walk back to the bike, and when i got there, I found out the thieving bastard had managed to get away with the red lens bit across the back of my rear light! Son of a BITCH! Ima gonna kill that fucker at court!

I certainly did not forget to tighten the screws holding the lens on and lose it around the block..... Nope... I am a mechanic now! Clearly! Neutral

Just as a matter of form, check your handlebars for damage.

My GPZ got similarly knocked over by some plonker who clearly couldn't reverse without hitting a bus, and the right handlebar had suffered a small sheer-stress injury (I think that's what its called).

So being the little bugger (aka idiotic fool) that I am, of course I kept riding it.

About a week later, I lost the entire right handlebar, it just came away in my hand with the braking gear and everything still attached Shocked

Fortunately I was only going 5mph at the time and was only half a block from home ... but it could have been very dodgy indeed.

I said the same thing to the missus the other day when the Wispa Mug 'fell apart' in my hand Embarassed

I know what ya mean though, Smile they look OK, front wheel feels OK too & not unbalanced (new tires this week too so will get them properly balanced then).
