Afternoon all.
CBR600 f3, practically new tires on the bike but the bike has been standing for around 2 years.
I have checked both tires and neither seem to have any signs of a puncture/foreign object poking out but both are loosing air at a rate of about 5 PSI a week...
Is soapy water around the rim likely to spot something going down this slow?

It has been suggested to me that popping the tire off the rim, clean the rim and re-inflate could solve the problem however I'm hoping there is an alternative after the last bead I was faced with proved to be an absolute nightmare.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Best regards

The rubber has perished and I doubt the tyres are even safe any longer, never mind airtight. They'll have 'formed' as well (deformed due to pressure on the same spot for so long).

As Hetz says.

Bin and replace.

It really, really isn't worth the risk.

Was kind of expecting that to be fair...
So, next question, what's a good tire for said bike?
Just put some sporty daemons on the NSR but not had a chance to ride those yet.
What's the price range for a budget tire that's also decent in the wet?

best regards

It's a sports bike, screw "budget". Unless you really do think you'll be able to ride it like a nun.

I run Dunlop Roadsmarts on my F3. Works a charm, great in the wet and great in the dry. Thumbs Up

I'm on BT 023 now.
Rears are triple compound and last well.
Were fine on track day and IOM and didn't square off on the motorway.

they didnt have dust caps on so threw some on there,
didn't make much difference.
I could try changing the core's...
Am still a little concerned about the tires as the bike may have been standing on the tires unmoved for 2 years Neutral
