Just wondering if any manufacturers other than Kawasaki and Honda are going to come out with supersport replica 47bhp bikes? (not that the cbr500 could really be considered sporty) Does anyone know anything or link me to a site with some info?

I'm sort of surprised Honda, Kwak, Suzuki and Yamaha haven't announced a new sporty 400cc range akin to the late 80's and 90's 400 'baby blades' etc. Considering everyone under 24 will be restricted to 47bhp and the majority of 18 - 24 year olds want sports bike Razz

the cbr500r could of been made to look a lot sportier surely? lol

I'm happy with my T'cat for now, but a load of mates have developed an interest in riding, but soon sod the idea when they realise the bikes they'll be limited to until they're 24... surely these manufacturers can recognise this? Or is it just wishful thinking?

Not everyone under 24, a lot will move to full size at 21/22/23 from a restricted licence.

Sadly they've worked out that a good proportion of the market wants a commuter bike that they can make-believe they're rossi on because it's got some plastic cover the sheep.

Remember, it's not a world wide market either.

I'm assuming rather than 33 bhp you'll now be able to buy 47 bhp restrictor kits instead? So the more mischevious of us will just take them out anyway, so no different to the old licensing laws?

Except they cannot restrict anything over around 90hp stock.

They'll still be able to get a full power bike at 21, if they get their finger out and do A2 at 19.

But if they're pissing and moaning and saying it's too much cost and hassle to do it that way, then what's the chances that they'd really have chosen to splash out a premium on a new 35kW pocket rocket anyway?

Honda are doing pretty well at identifying people who will actually buy bikes, and producing the bikes that they'll actually buy. You don't get rich by chasing a market composed of people who would buy your product, but...
