They don't go far enough. I would automatically ban anyone who mentions nodding, wavy discs, Akrapovic pipes, apples, snow, ACF50, Jeremy Beadle, twisted subframes, Spain, donuts or posts pictures of unidentifiable unfocused random components.

Are they not a reiteration of the terms and conditions?

I'd ban double posters too Wink

I'm more than aware that it's far from it. I moderate my statements with due consideration.

The copyright one could be a total PITA.

Other than that BCF is maturing, or Korn is becoming an old Curmudgeon Wink Razz

I don't even want to know how much info I've leaked out to BCF over the years. You could probably find me IRL pretty easily cross referencing all my posts, especially if you checked up other stuff like cross-posting between here and facebook etc.

I just don't see how the new rules will work.

Thinking

Polluting on-topic threads with NSFW / shock images
lol

Using others' images without permission
more lol

Behaving like the internet is truly anonymous
further lol

Behaving like an idiot for the sake of it
the most lol

meh

Why now? BCF has been polluting the internets in this way for years, why does it have to change now?

Did you read the part about Korn having to deal with the legal fallout from the hijinks? Even if most of it is bluster or warrantless demands, it's still a pile of hassle in return for... what?

There's mention of Data Protection Act waivers and about information requests from police, but there hasn't been any specific legal fallout from hijinks?

Now I could be wrong, but from my reading, Korn isn't saying stop having a bit of fun, he's just saying it was getting a bit out of hand.

Well, a lot out of hand.

Tone it back a bit, make the trolling witty instead of brutal and ham fisted, think about where your images are coming from and don't make a thread NSFW unless it's truly warranted. If you do, put the tags on.

It really isn't that big a deal. There is still a place for nobcat, just not in every bloody thread.

Upload the image to imgur.com then link it to BCF.

No exif data leads to awesomeness and no copyright infringement.

Pretty much ^^ this. It really shouldn't be hard to comprehend...

And I'm not saying don't post random images you find on the net in any circumstance, I'm saying don't be an intentional dick with photos which aren't yours. Saying "lol no exif" is not a defence, since things like Facebook automatically strip exif data anyway.

The bat and ball belongs to korn so he reserves the right to do whatever he wants with it, especially when the bat is being used to beat kittehs to death and the ball represents a slip / trip hazard to the elderly and / or visually impaired of the internets.

Another forum I used hoyed their hosting / servers over to a Russian provider who only had one rule, no kiddie porn. Much loling at officialdom and threatogram sender outers ensued, with frequent referral to Arkell v Pressdram (1971). Although I guess such thumbing of the nose at the establishment would be a lot more difficult for UK based people and websites.
