Claims of 120 mph would be a selling point for any spotty 17 year old, looking for a speed thrill.
Indicated, maybe. If the speedo was well out.
Realistically I think it would be topping out at ~100.
Of course it boils down to the colour of the powerband ____________________ Sold: 2003 satin black Yamaha R6

My NSR had that colourscheme. Mine was a german import, so its possible that one is too, and therefore the speedo will be in kph.
Also, german ones are slightly restricted in the CDI. Mine did an indicated ~95mph flat out. My mates UK ones did ~100mph, but theirs blew up and mine didnt.

i had a little ax100 that would do 150kmh (real speed) ok it was a bit modded, but it was still a piston ported air cooled 100cc 2 stroke with no fairing, i dare say on a good cold day with the right gearing you could probably do it on a decent smokey 125 ____________________ the humans are dead

Nah, seems legit. It'll totally go with a new CDI, I'd fit it meeself but I need the money to buy a Staffy puppy from our Sharon's cousin's mate's parole officer. 120mph easy, bruv, just bring cash to a car park. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Practical Sports Bike Magazine are currently building, or trying to build a 100mph AR50. Maybe the seller has been using the same tuner!

Entirely possible, 50cc GP bikes, both 2 and 4 stroke, were capable of speeds over 100mph 50 years ago. |
Then they limited them to a single cylinder and six gears...
The 60's tiddlers were terrifying!
Pretty sure there was a two-stroke tiddler with five cylinders! (might have been an 80- though, but still! 5 pots!)
Then there was the Suzuki that had a double gear-box....
Had something like 24 gear's from a six speed gear-box, multiplied by a four-speed gear-box, so you started in 1st +1st, then worked up through the six speeds, then another toe-up selected 2nd + 1st, etc. Aparently you just left the throttle pinned and booted the lever to go faster or slower
The power-band was so narrow, that it ticked over at something daft like 8,000 rpm, and made all its power between 11,00 & 12,000; and dropped off the power peak so abrubtly, that if you muffed a change it didn't just 'bog' but could stall and lock the rear wheel!
They also weighed about as much as a push-bike.... earliest bikes to have alli frames and other exotic materials, were in the tiddler classes of the 60's. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
