I'm looking at this bike on ebay but I'm not very experienced with bikes yet and don't know anyone else who is.

I'd be very grateful if someone who knows their stuff could watch this video and tell me if they spot anything wrong?

https://youtu.be/4iqn5mLO-iw

Does it sound OK when its starting up/idling? Is that little bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust normal? It looks very clean to me, so I'm hoping its all good.

Many thanks,
G

Video means nothing. A warm engine can hide a lot of problems. From a video you don't know if that start was stone cold or after a 200 mile ride. Okay... it was too clean for after a ride... but nevermind.

Smoke is probably just condensation which weights things towards being with a cold engine.

But I'd go and have at look at it if I was you. Take a friend. Preferably one who knows bikes. I'd never buy a main bike blind. I'm happy letting someone I trust making that choice for me though. Thumbs Up

Video maker sounded out of breath, therefore I'll assume he's fat. So instantly we've discovered the the rear shock is fucked. Thumbs Up

Well at lest it didn't need any choke to start from cold Wink as you can clearly see the choke is off when he starts it up. Then again might have filmed it on a nice warm English day Smile

As others have said best to take a look if you can, but it dose look clean, the engine dose sound good, also check old mots for advisories as this can help point out problems ?

Tiny bit of white smoke is just condensation.

The front end has been fucked with though, shouldn't be through the yokes like that. Only an issue if it hasn't been done properly and the rear hasn't been changed in sync.

MOT means nothing. If you look hard enough you can get your bike to pass regardless of condition Wink

Agree with posting up the ebay link. We nered to see what he has said about the bike.

Even if you buy/win it on ebay, don't think you have to buy it if it isn't as described. Just walk away.

Thanks to all the genuinely helpful replies. The bike apparently 'stopped working' after I asked a load of questions so I've given it a miss.

Supermoto_Fan could you expand on what you meant by the yokes comment? Why is this bad, and what should I look for in future?

Cheers
G

It looks like the forks have been lowered. This will have an effect on handling. If the rear shock is also set up to work with the lowered forks then it won't be too much of an issue I reckon. It's when one element is changed without the other.
