Thought I'd post this up here, two minutes down the road from me so I'm desperately hoping it's nobody I know, feel really bad for all involved and has to be terrible for the family. Sad

From the picture looks like it's right on my favourite twisty bit down the valley, wouldn't like to guess what's happened but the bends are mostly blind and the road surface has been crap for years.

Sad news. Its been the general consensus from the police there in north Wales and Snowdonia area that the biking fatalities were largely related to riders not knowing the roads and overcooking on tightening bends they don't foresee etc, but this guy sounded like a local rider who knew the area well. Kind of makes you realise just how much attention you need to be giving to both the road and traffic.

I think we all hope it won't happen every day, but them's the breaks and there's a few people (including a couple of BCF's own) that weren't planning on having an accident when they set off for the May Day run this morning.

As Cheesey said, you need to have eyes everywhere, all of the time, but even that might not save you.

Yes, it only takes one person either in a car/bike that thinks I can take that corner at speed, if need be, overtake too because the person knows how much the road bends, except it only takes another vehicle coming in the opposite direction to either take the corner wide for legitimate reason due to being a wide vehicle either that someone is also overtaking them. That is why it is BAD to take a risky positions on corners on PUBLIC roads if you cannot see clearly ahead with time allowed because it is NOT a race track where everyone is traveling in the same direction, but you do get animals crossing the roads/birds flying across your path and even oil spills which can certainly cause problems if not avoided in time.

You only commit to a road position only if you are sure the road is clear enough ahead giving you the time & space to make such a maneuver without endangering yourself and/or your pillion - throttle off and live for another day!

And that path commonly has sheep wandering in the road who come down from the mountains, conjoined with blind sharp bends!
