Whats your limit? In fact what is a sensible limit?

Every job I seem to be looking for pays £25 an hour, but no job is closer than 22 miles.

I am pretty sure a long commute like that would eventually drive me insane. Either by van or bike.

What say you BCF?

Get a grip

22 miles is nothing. If it is too much for you then what are you doing on a bikers forum

Depends where you are. If a 22 mile commute takes and hour and a half then I wouldn't want to do that. I do 18 miles, takes about 30 minutes and that's when I go by car. Bike isn't that much better for most of it because it's only a 125 - the town bits at either end it's great.

Are the roads round you busy?

Thats what I'm wary of, around Halifax to Oldham on the M62 always took ages in the van, about an hour or so.

While the other way is country A roads.

I'm on £11 an hour and I commute 3.7 miles.

Pretty cheap.

I presume you're stuck living where you are?

I moved jobs to one that was the other side of town and wanted to live close.

Timed my commute and I could do it in 13 minutes on a good day.

The 22 miles definitely depends on where it is - straight down the motorway and it's not bad at all.

Also, for me it'd depend if it was contracting or permanent.

Part of my problem often was that I did enjoy the bike commuting a bit TOO much.

In a previous job I had to commute down the M4 for around 22 miles. However, as I was contracted to start at 9am at the office just down the road, I often left at a similar time to normal get to the site after 9 - and I got expenses for the trip as well as food etc covered too.

From this week my commute distance is 1 mile. It cost me nothing Thumbs Up

My limit would be probably about 10 miles.

I commuted 124 miles a day mostly on a 2T 100 for years. 22 miles is nothing, especially on a bigger bike.

No, he lives at your place of work and his job is breaking into your house daily.

Depends how long it takes.

If you have to travel an hour each way that's 10 hours a week of your life gone. I wouldn't be happy giving up 10 hours of my free time.

I commute 7 miles each way, and on roughly 21-22k a year. Dunno what that is hourly. Soon gonna be cycling there, so cheap as!!

My previous job was 13 miles each way, and 15k a year. That was fine too.

£25 an hour, and you're moaning about a 22mile commute?

Get a bloody grip of yourself man.

Where is a key factor, but 22 miles isn't missions.

I commute to Uni and it takes me around 15 minutes for 5 miles.

I can get to my parent's in 30-45 minutes and that's 35-40 miles.

Wage means nothing to commute.

I do 20 each way across Leeds.
Going is the same in car or on bike as its early and quiet....
Comming home is a diffrent matter.
Bike is 40 mins.
Car can be upto 2 hours depending on how bad the traffic is.

Best bit is that I have a choice of 4 or 5 diffrent routes to use, so can vary the route to suit and ensure no bordom Laughing

In fact I have been known to double to route home on a nice evening Mr. Green
Traffic was manic tonite dear Laughing

£25 an hour?! Jesus i envy you, stuck on 6.49 an hour.

Despite the fact you have to wake up early, 22 miles, so you get to enjoy a long trip in the mornings and evenings? Plus you get paid inbetween? Sounds like heaven.

I'm questioning since fuel isn't free, and as said I don't think spending 2 hours a day travelling, which all adds up is great.

I always move so I am closer to my job (the bonus of rented accommodation). I hate commuting, I will avoid it to the best of my ability.
