Saw this story in the local press...
York Press wrote:
A BIKER who was caught speeding at 122mph near Selby and then used an internet “fightback” forum to try to avoid conviction is to be sentenced next week.

Andrew John Kelly was spotted by a mobile safety camera on the A63 near Selby last June but then tried to manipulate the law to avoid penalty points, said North Yorkshire Police.
...
A force spokeswoman said....he sought advice on an internet forum on how to avoid prosecution and how to circumvent responding to his notice of intended prosecution “He posted his intention to lie about the rider of the bike on the internet forum,” she said.

“He bragged on the forum about how he had got away with not paying a parking fine by submitting a fake invoice, resulting in him being charged with perverting the course of justice.”

Wow. I hope the police and CPS are sooo proud of themselves, all that time and money spent convicting this terribly dangerous criminal.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for them to visit me about my stolen bike (£6k worth, uninsured). Stolen in 1996.

How about it scum? Oh noes, silly me, there's no revenue in it for ya'll. Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger

Fucking parasite filth.

Yeah, a bell-end for not realising that while they whine about having no resources for tackling bike-thefts and burglaries etc they have plenty for noncing around on the internet, coming down real hard on anyone who DARES to try and avoid paying them the money they're extorting.

Like I said, parasite filth.

Am sorry but common sense says that if you have a nice bike people will want to steal it so therefore the sensible thing would have been to insure it.

I had just brought the bike back from Japan and it was still on its Japanese plate and therefore UNINSURABLE (I tried). I also had nowhere to keep it but in the street across the road from my flat.

I rang the police, they said they would send somebody to see me and take details etc. They also said they would do a door-to-door. They never visited me and they never did a door-to-door (I checked by doing my own). I rang them a number of times, they said they would get somebody to me "as soon as possible". They never did. Ever.

But gee, how efficient they are at doing and chasing parking and speeding tickets! Small number-plates! Loud exhausts!

Ooh, me blood's proper boiling now. PARASITE FUCKING FILTH!

So guy breaks the law, get's caught breaking the law and then tries to use the internet for ideas on how to lie to get out of this whole mess, whilst admitting that he's broken the law before and somehow this makes the police scum?

I'm not sure what they're supposed to do? Accept that the evidence is clear cut, so effectively like shooting fish in a barrel, and just let him go without penalty?

Got no sympathy for him that he lied, and tried to cover it up.

Only moderate sympathy that he got caught speeding.

Fair enough, speeding isn't the worst thing out there, tbh it's relatively harmless 99.9% of the time, but if you are caught speeding, which is breaking the law, then take the punishment like a man and move on.

Over at pepipoo they're very particular about what is said.

Further, you just know that the police will have someone duplicating and at least skimming most posts on there.

Silly to go bragging about naughtiness on it.

E-peen waggling aside, this is what Korn is on about when he reminds us that posts here are neither secret nor anonymous.

That said, nuts to "the law". The Section 172 demand to incriminate yourself is utterly abhorrent and Strasbourg should hang their heads in shame for upholding it. It's one tiny slip down the slope to criminalising any refusal to identify yourself.

Dear police

I see you still have plenty of time and resources to go chasing up idiots on the internet. Next time a peon such as myself suffers from theft I ask again that you put in a mere 20% of the effort spent chasing words and pictures posted on the internet in to investigating my loss.

Rozzers regularly trawl pepipoo, as do council ticket scammers and private parking parasites looking for easy victims. Anyone posting up their brain dead plans to try and fight the law and win as Mr Kelly did might as well make it a bit less of an effort for the rozzers by handing themselves in down the station, with video footage of them doing the 122mph and make a 'confession' there and then. Thumbs Down

I live in Pudsey and have bumped into the guy a few times out on the dirt bike and also on the sports bike on bank holiday Monday.

Just to clear things up a little, yes he was speeding and yes he made the mistake of trying to get out of the speeding ticket. But how many people on here have driven at 122mph on the road at some point? Think about it and obviously dont admit it on here.

The guy made the mistake of posting a detailed description of what he did on a forum to gain advice. The error here is that this is all on view to the public/police.

If the guy had gone to seek legal advice which is obviously not on view to the public/police they would have discussed similar things with the legal guys that were discussed on the speeding advice forum.

The only difference is that he had incriminated him self on the internet and the police see this as easy/cheap/cost effective proof. Much easier than trying to prove things the old fashioned way.

The police originally did not have his number plate 6 months ago when the 122mph offence took place and only had a description to work on. I believe the police stopped the bike at a date after the offence and recognized the bike and obvioulsey took the guys details.

When they had his details they raided his house and took his bike, all his bike gear and his computer as evidence.

I dont condone driving at 122mph and do think if you get caught at that speed you should receive some sort of punishment, but that's for the courts to decided.

I wish the guy well in court on Wednesday as he is a really nice bloke and did have a clean licence before the speeding offence that was caught on tape.

I believe the punishment he will receive will be far greater that the car driver that knocked me of my bike in Bradford when they were on the phone. Basically police were not interested as i was not injured and told me it was a civil matter, even though it was a hit and run and more than likely recorded on at least 2-3 CCTV cameras.

The police system is now generally a business with no intention of solving crimes. The majority of the decisions the police seem to make are to do with raising revenue.

Speed isn't always a killer though. I reckon most of us could happily sit at well over a ton on the motorway. I know my commute is empty if I'm on lates. I could sit at 100-130 with no issues. Brakes have come a long way since the 70mph max limit days. Laughing

Now getting caught, been caught a few times, let off the majority which is a bonus, but some were what others would deem excessive. I've got myself 3 points and they disappear next year, no hardship really but it hasn't stopped me speeding like they "intend" it to.
