Clear motorway run this morning (unfortunately that means there was an incident on the M60/M62 that blocked / closed it) and first run to work on the ZZR which felt a bit bouncy at times.

This could be because I'm used to the varadero and don't notice being bumped about but wanted to know if it's anything I should check, tyre pressures etc - bike is 99 ZZR 600

That or I just need to get used to the bike a bit more and stop worrying?

Cheers

Anyone know what pressures should be?

Run 37 back and front in mine and it's fine. You may have a busted shock? But the suspension is quite soft on the rear anyway...

I blame the saggy old shock, notorious on ZZRs. Got myself a used hagon for £100 and it's a different bike.

Is it bouncing or hitting the bumps hard making you bounce out of the seat?

What tyres are they? Most modern road tyres are run at 36psi front and 42 rear.

Manual says 36f 41r. More than likely to be the awful saggy shocks that the ZZR is renowned for though.

Rear shock is an upgraded one according to previous owner, although I am lighter than him.

I'll check pressures at lunch.
I wonder if it was just the road surface, a bit of wind blowing and having only done 30 miles on it.

The vara had fairly soft but not saggy suspension
Cheers.

If it's an upgraded one, it's either a Hagon or they done a zzr 1200 shock conversion. probably. Might have to adjust the preload/damping if you can Smile if the preload is that high though, you'll find the bike wanting to bounce you off over speedhumps and stuff.

If they've done the 1200 shock it'll have remote preload adjustment which will make it really easy. If not you might not be able to get your C spanner to fit in between the plastics and frame to adjust. That's the problem I faced. Had to whip it in and out to keep testing.

Good luck

It's not trying to bump me off, just a noticeable 'everything ok back there' kind of thing, not enough to make me stop and check tho.

Could just be not used to the bike nerves and hearing or feeling things that are normal or not even there.

garage near work didn't have an air machine (vandalised before a truck backed into it) so couldn't do anything about it at work.

Stopped on the way home after a steady ride to check them, both were about 10psi higher than people advised the correct pressure was.
As I rode away I realised I'd stupidly done it when the tyres were warm (but not particularly hot)

Felt a lot better afterwards.

Should I stop and check again in the morning?

I know pressures should be done from cold, no idea why I didn't go home and then head to the local garage later.

Cheers
