Would you do this? I am running Metzeler M5 sportecs on my R1 and the rear has just under 3mm tread - 5mm is new tread depth, so its just over half worn. The front is nearly new.

Would it be best to replace the back tyre before doing a trackday? My gut says yes but at around £150 its an expensive tyre.

Cheers,
Dave

You could use them but they might be a bit unstable on turn in and feel like it suddenly drops in to the corner.
