and in with the new...
So, after having it for about 2 1/2 years, getting through my test on it, and riding it in all weather (apart from snow), yesterday I sold the YZF-R125:

Sorry to see it go in a way, its been 100% reliable, seen out some horrible weather without dissolving away (partially thanks to ACF-50), and delivered over 90mpg consistently. Considering I only paid £2700 for it (bought used when it was about 8 months old), and I put about 8000 miles on it, I don't think I did too bad to get £2200 for it. Sold via eBay classified ad to a dealer (after being p*ssed about by some other real muppets for a couple of weeks ).
And, as yesterday was also the last day of my 2 year restriction period (Couldn't be bothered with the hassle of getting a bigger bike restricted so just waited out the 2 years on the 125), today I took a train to Hunts in Manchester to pick up a 2011 XJ6-N with just 1500 miles on it. Its my first big bike and all I can say is f*ck me Compared to the 125 its like having a warp drive If this is what other folks consider to be a fairly boring bike, I can only imagine what a litre sports bike must be like. Even with the standard exhaust I think it sounds great.
Anyway, here's a quick (crap) photo:

It was shocking weather all the way back from Manchester to Chesterfield, the higher points of the Snake Pass being in the cloud and loads of standing water, plus my sat nav decided to take me on the most absurd route out of Manchester through some "delightful" areas, so was a pretty nervous ride back, and its now filthy, but I enjoyed it ____________________ Test Passed 10/05/2011 Current bike: XJ6-N |

The step to a proper sports 6 will feel just as mental, up to a litre bike is quite a hefty jump, good fun, but you notice it.
Very nice upgrade |

Thanks all
As for Hunts, I saw the bike on Autotrader at a very competitive price, placed the deposit via phone last weekend, and only saw it in the flesh for the first time today. All was as described, I was made to feel welcome and I left a happy bunny!
They're not local to me though so unlikely to be going back unless I buy something else from them in the future (new CBR600RR they had in the repsol scheme almost made me do a little sex wee)! ____________________ Test Passed 10/05/2011 Current bike: XJ6-N |

That feeling when you first wind the throttle to the stop in 3rd when you have been on a 125 is just something I will never forget.
Bet you are still grinning |

Well, first annoyance is you can't get an ABBA stand adapter kit due to the design of the swingarm pivot , so ordered a centre stand for it instead! ____________________ Test Passed 10/05/2011 Current bike: XJ6-N |

Has the N not got a centre stand? The S version I have has? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |
