Hello.

I just bought a dt125, it is the old lc, but alot of the parts is changed to the mk3 version, therefore it is with ypvs and sometimes 12v.

the problem is, that i am not sure, if the generator is changing from the 6v to a 12 v.

when a battery is connected, it delivers 7.5v dc/ac and when it is off, it delivers 16v ac, and the rectifiers cannot work.

so does anyone know how the generator is changed? and if it is possible to modify the 6v generator to a 12v generator D:

I know all the dt125 LC's in the uk were 12v only the early air cooled versions were 6v. Also and I don't know how this compares with the dt.....but the rd125lc mk1 & mk2 used the same stator plate and flywheel but the mk3 was slightly different ie you had to either move the Cdi pickup coil or fit a matching flywheel or the timing was far to advanced. Stator plates on the lc's did tend to fail on the larger genny block if it came loose as it would move by a mm or 2 and break the wires.

hello, and thanks for the answer.

i am allmost 100% sure, that the cdi is a 12v, it has the number 34x, which i think is the model code for a dt125 version comming with ypvs, and therefor 12v?

I should mention, that i can start the mc, but it is only charging the battery by 7.5v "therefore i think it is the wrong stator"

i bought the hyanes manual, and it seems like the 12v stator is comming with something like 6 og 8 coils?
the one i have sitting at the moments is comming with 3 coils... and therefore it seems like an 6 v?

The early dt125 lc came with 2 genny coils and 1 pickup coil so it could be 12 v the rd had several stator type coils as did the later dt's so hard to say from just that.

All the dtr models are 12v, early dtr's had separate lighting/ignition and charging coils, the battery powered the ypvs servo indicators etc and the lights were a/c.

The later dtr's had the same star type stator (three output wire to the reg/rec with everything being run off the battery) as the tzr engines.

If your battery is reading 7 volts standing and the bike outputs 16v when running then the battery is fried and the regulator rectifier is dead.

The dt125lc was different to the dt125r/ dtr125 models which is it you have? I though ypvs came in with the dt125r
