Hi, I've done a search for this and came up with nada, so here I am.
I've got a Honda CG125 ES 2004. I needed a new exhaust so to ensure I got the right one I went to my local Honda dealer and paid the inevitable top whack.
The problem: My shiny new exhaust doesn't fit! It is identical in every way to the old one (minus the rust) except for the mounting bracket that secures the exhaust head to the cylinder head.
The old one has a gap of 43mm between the drilled holes for the cylinder head bolts to go through; the new one is 48mm...

I've spoken to my Honda dealer and he basically said the computer says it's the right one and he's happy to give me a refund... but I want to be able to ride my bike!
The engine and frame are stamped with the matching correct numbers on the V5 and I believe the engine is the original.
The mounting bracket is a separate part that is placed over the end of the exhaust prior to an end piece being welded onto the exhaust pipe, so it doesn't come off, unless I am prepared to cut and weld, which I'm not... yet.
My dealer has ordered another exhaust and we're going to compare it when it comes. I'm hoping it's a factory cock up, but if the new one comes from the same batch it's likely to have the same problem.

Anyway... Has anyone come across this issue before and can anyone shed any light on it?

Cheers,

Mark

do not alter it!

if you alter goods bought then you are deemed to have accepted them, according to sale of goods act, and your right of return changes

Yep, the numbers all match. Honda have just rang me to say the new one has come in so I'm off to see if it's any different...

Problem solved. Honda ordered in a new exhaust and I took the first one back with me to compare. The bloke measured between the outer edges of the two bolt holes and reckoned they were the same, and at first glance they did look the same, but on closer inspection I could see the inner edges were closer to the inner edge of the bracket. At home, it went straight on with no problem at all.
Result.
I must say however, that I have been unable ride me bike for two weeks because of this Mad

Anyway now I've got a nice shiny exhaust Very Happy
