Well if you think about it why is it that a car can be zero tax & a bike is £120 a year? Really not fair that a guy with a 3 series BMW gets to drive along taking up loads more road than me, can't filter, & needs more space to park when he eventually gets to work gets his car on the road for nowt.
Come on people sign this petition ____________________ I am me & you are he & we are all together. See how they run like pigs from a gun! |

There are a few arguments in favour of powered two wheelers. Probably the most significant is that we finish our journeys faster, and therefore spend less time taking up pieces of road. That's why filtering benefits car drivers as well, not that they'll ever see us as anything but queue jumping bastards.
Pointless petition is pointless though, for reasons that I've gone into several times. It needs MCN, MAG and at least one ecomental mob behind it to be politically significant. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Because they're trying to encourage low emissions so that our towns and cities are more pleasant places to be, never mind the whole 'environment' thing.
Which BMW 3 series is VED rated A? Some are rated B, but I wasn't aware any where rated A.
Also, I would certainly not want people to consider trying to rate bikes like cars - to get the performance of a £3k bike in a modern car you're probably £440+ per year in tax thanks to the emissions.
Bike's probably better than that, but I bet if it was based on the same formula, most bikes would go up, with only a few at the bottom going down.
And it's rare that I've had a bike that does over 35mpg. Some have been more like 20mpg.
Anyway want to make a petition stating that all the people that sign the first petition are a) not representing bikers b) very silly and c) should be made to wear pink leotards any time they do ride a bike to identify them? |
What bikes did you get such crap MPG? On my bandit1250 I went from Carlisle to Glen Coe on just over 17 litres of fuel (around 200 miles the route I took). This was loaded up with luggage although no pillion. Varied roads and although I wasnt going nuts, was driving reasonably quickly, about 90mph on the motorways. Sports bikes are considerably lighter and more aerodynamic than my bandit and should therefore should get better mileage at similar speeds. ____________________ I am usually naked when posting to this forum. |

Pretty sure BMW 320D's are close to tax exempt, or £35 a year.
and 34mpg out of an m3 to santa pod? it's about 20miles from me and I'd be lucky to get 23mpg in my 330 ____________________ 2017 KTM 350 XC-F - 2014 Yamaha R6 - 2005 Yamaha YZ125
