Hello Forum,

A new member here showing you all my recently purchased bike, not sure if she's the one but I'll try and make it work and hopefully we'll spend many happy years together, it's the iconic bike from my youth so I guess it's not just the bike I'm trying to hold onto.

Sorted out an electrical issue (faulty main switch) and loose chain, also fitted adjustable levers and found my preferred tyre pressures so things are working out at the moment, I just have an issue with the seemingly laboured and heavy gear changes from 1st to 2nd and it sometimes wanting to find neutral rather than 2nd (doesn't pop out of second) maybe it's my riding or maybe I need to adjust the gear lever, I suppose riding in my Nikes doesn't help ))
anyway it's a 2002 with 15,000 miles and I paid £2800 for it 3 months ago, a bit gutted really because they seem to be fetching a lot less at the moment, it's strange because I'd been trying to buy one all through the winter and any decent 2000-02 R1's for sale were quickly sold for around the same money as mine and I wasn't even getting a chance to view any, it seems they are more desirable and more expensive to buy during the winter which surprises me because a 2004 R1 is certainly a lot more expensive to buy now than it was at Christmas.

Lovely bike mate but you got a picture from the rear, subframe alignment looks a little twisted from that angle. Thumbs Up

Wasn't expecting attention towards the exhaust but since it's been pointed out I agree it is a little excessive. I've not owned a bike for my own use since 1995 which was an MBX50 and the object of the game then was to fit a bigger exhaust, seems I need to get with the times Laughing
I've got a little stubby that came fitted to the bike but it's got 'NOT FOR ROAD USE' stamped on it, as I'm aware it's about a third louder than the standard silencer, just don't want a tug for misbehaving then that being noticed to make things worse.
Just had a look on eBay and out of about 100 silencers there's only one silencer that I think would go with my bike, typically the most expensive one so I'll need to decide over the next few days or weeks if I want to keep this bike and spend more money on it, was planning on balancing the carbs next week so I guess that's not worth doing until I decide which or what silencer to use.
