Hi,

I've just got into biking and have a textile jacket and trousers that I can zip together. I haven't as of yet, but am starting a trip to Norway tomorrow on my bike and am in two minds whether to zip them together.

In the event of a fall obviously it would help prevent the jacket riding up, but I feel a little limited in motion and wonder if this will affect my riding or natural "kiss your knees" position if the worst did happen.

Just interested to hear thoughts on the matter.

Regards,
Antony.

I tend not to bother zipping my textiles together as the jacket's quite long and I only use them for commuting usually.

As for my leathers though, I always zip them together. Mainly as the jacket is shorter than my textiles and it'd get a bit chilly with a gap there. Also, any poor sod behind me probably wouldn't appreciate the view of my backside if the trousers started to ride down Laughing

Yes, I did... once.

What Dave said. Short jacket to trousers, yet. Long jacket, not so much, although I do (very occasionally) zip up if I know I'm going to be out for most of the day in inclement weather.

"Just got into biking [...] trip to Norway tomorrow" is ace though, you'll be giving advice by the end of it. Wink

Always zip em together. Rain, a cold breeze or road rash ain't welcome on my arse.

I tend to always zip them together, just because.

Keeps the cold draught going up my back, and keeps rain & spray out. Plus you never know when you might come off the bike. And if you slide feet first, your jacket has a good chance of coming up your back/chest.

Leathers, full zip, always.

(otherwise my trousers fall down if I'm off the bike)

Always did when I had a matching set, currently have HG textile trousers and a Frank Thomas leather jacket which won't zip together.

Lol, thanks for the responses. It is a pain to zip up but since I'll be riding a fair way there's no harm in doing so. Maybe not for short trips unless I get a knack for zipping/unzipping.

Now here's to praying to the weather Gods not to take a leak for the next few days!

Do as you wish, but this is what happened to me when I crashed in 2 piece leathers that weren't zipped together.

I always do.

Although it right pisses me off when I get all zipped up in my bike gear and then realise that I have left my building alarm fob in my back pocket and have to unzip everything to lock up. Serves me right for being a forgetful knob really.

Always ZIP top to bottoms. Habit now.

More comfy as stops the cold air getting up your jook and if you fall off you could land on bare skin.

And I usually proof read my posts coz they're awesome.

How were you to know? By PROOF-READING YOUR POST. That means checking your post after you've posted it, instead of hitting submit and buggering off as soon as it tells you you've "successfully posted".

Too many people pulling this bollocks.
