German car and bike licenses in the UK

I have a friend from Germany that is over here in the UK. Can they ride a bike here on the road if they have the restricted bike license from Germany? I don't know what the test and restriction rules are like over there and how they'd work over here. Also does passing your car test in Germany allow you to drive a car here?

He/she will be able to drive a car over here, not too sure about the restricted license thing for the bike though. It's probably worth phoning the DVLA to confirm both points, they CAN be helpful sometimes.

car licence is definately ok,
i think the bike licence is the same, restricted to 25kw (34ps)
some people will try to tell you that you need to swap it for a UK one, but you don't unless you move permanently, even then it's easy to do, just send it off to DVLA with the form from post office

The German embassy would probably be very helpful, i know the English one here in Germany is very helpfull. Hope this helps.
