is my bike dyno jetted?
hi the bike in question is a 94 fzr600r. iv been trying to work out if its had a dyno jet kit or some sort of jet kit fitted. iv only been on the road about 3 weeks when the bike started to idle ruff so i borrowed a carb sinc equipment,
while i was doing this i taken the float bowl of to inspect the jets to make sure ther was no crap in the jet or in the float bowl, anyways looking at the jets my jets ar 118 in all 4 carbs, ar these standard?

anyways got all carbs balanced and still ran ruff then turned all 4 fuel air mixture screws all in then 2 full turns out, and idles fine now, thay was at the factory 1-1/2 turns out but the dyno jet "business" still puzzling me

main jet size won't effect it on idle.
if the revs don't drop after revving you have an air leak.
otherwise i would suspect gone off fuel / water in the fuel or crap in the tank. Blocked pilot jet or choke problem are also possible.

thats exactly right, it was reving around 2.500/3.000 for bout 2 sec may be more before it drop down to 1.300rpm, i have had this bike for about 2 years
spent 20+ months striping n respraying it in between family life, some times sat there for weeks,
past my test 5 week ago and been enjoying riding it for 3 week apart from the over reving at traffic lights
sriped the carb cleend evey thing out with wd40 and bout 50psi of compressed air, refitted the carbs and it was still there but a propper going over with a carb sinc and its better but still there. so i turned all air mix screws in and 2 full turns out = sorted even after a 30 mile ride

it was when i was cleening the jets i seen the size (118) and though ther not standerd, tryed searching the web for 2 days for both fzr600r and yzf600r tc (carbed mod) and both came back with main jet 107.5,,,,, so previous owner jetted the bike but left the air mix stock making it over rev but its sorted now and im loving it

Dynojet kit needles and jets are quite differant to OEM parts. The kit main jets have DJ and the jet size number stamped on them and flow differantly to OEM.The DJ needles that I have on my Exup1000 are ally and are not tapered like OEm but have a distinct step about half way along.

As for the rough running at tickover, when you screwed the the airscrew in and then out again,it may well have cleaned off some gummed up petrol residue that was hindering the proper flow of fuel from that minute drilling.

But at least you got it sorted Thumbs Up
