Hey all,

So I'm finally getting rid of my R6. It's been a good run (6 years) but I'm trading it in for something more economical for my needs. I am in search of a bike that's good around town, commuting (lane splitting) yet I can still take it up to the twisties. This is what I've rounded it down to. If you have any other suggestions that'd be awesome!

You can see below that type of bike I'm looking for. I want something with less aggressive seating than the R6. Something better for longer rides and more options as far as bags and gadgets/goodies go. NOTE: I am 5'10" 195lbs.

Thanks.

PLEASE VOTE!!!

Economical and good at filtering but still good in the twisties.

If I was buying a bike to own for a long time, GSXR1000.

If I was looking to lower my mpg but up the fantastic noise, Street Triple.

If you went off all the back of the reviews in various mags and Mcn then the Trumpet is definitely the king of the nakeds.

My vote would be a fazer8 (the half faired version) the 2013 model comes with much better adjustable suspension and that bit of wind protection makes it a good all rounder IMO.

I love the hyper motard but I read the tank range is really poor,

It would have to be the street triple

For your height and build, either the street triple or the Monster, IMO.

They're both quite low and for me, being 6'2", I found them a bit "short" for my reach and I felt very, very upright indeed - so you'd probably find them quite comfortable. The Shiver was the same, but a little bigger.

You need to go sit on them and see what you like IMO, not much point in setting your heart on something that you might sit on and hate.

I'm going to ride them all this weekend.

I'm betting I will like the Hypermotard the best, lol. Grew up on dirtbikes. Spent the last 8 years on sport bikes. It seems like the best of both worlds. Plus I like the versatility and upright seating position.

As far as looks go, I put the Brutale above all. Thing is the 800s aren't out yet and it looks like another couple of months until they hit dealerships (according to my local MV dealer.)

As an alternative on the list, could also take a look at the 2013 KTM Dook 690. It's got the more supermoto-ey seating position you're looking for.

Try a kwak z800

I tried it and fell in love, I had issues with the low speed acceleration up to around 30 on the street.

The z800 felt and looked that little bit different.
