Just for anyone planning on doing a track day there.
They do offer a 75% refund if you fail but i'd rather have a jolly up there to get checked before booking.

Dates as follows.....
25th May
1st June
20th July

The noise meter will be available 10am-12noon or 1:30-4:30pm

Doh!

The noise limit for the day is 105 db(A), which is measured at ½ metre from the exhaust outlet at ¾ maximum revs.

I'm hoping to go up saturday the 25th to get tested.
Its the closest track to me now apart from Thruxton but i don't think they do track days.

In our experience the following machines may NOT pass our strict limits:

Any make & model of bike with short type side silencers
Ducati 748/749/916/996/998/999, fitted with Termignoni open pipes
(but any of the above with standard pipes SHOULD pass)
Ducati 1098R
Ducati 1198
Ducati Multistrada (2011)
Ducati Panigale - all models
Honda CBR1000RR - 2008 model and 2010 modelon
Kawasaki ZX10 - 2009 and 2010 model
KTM RC8
Suzuki GSXR600 K6
Suzuki GSXR600 K7
Suzuki GSXR 750 K6
Suzuki GSXR 750 K7
Suzuki GSXR1000 K6 - 2006 model with standard exhaust
Suzuki GSXR1000 K7
Suzuki GSXR1000 K8
Triumph 675 - 2009 model (short type side can)
Yamaha R6 - 2006 model
Yamaha R6 - 2008 model (short type side can)
Yamaha R6 - 2009 model (short type side can)
Yamaha R1 - 2008 and 2009 model

Thats good to know Thumbs Up
Not been on track for a couple of years and its probably less than an hour away from me.

Reading reviews it seems quite quick with silly chicanes and not much run off.

But, better than nothing.

Is it, however…

That is not the standard testing procedure, normally 600s are tested at 7000 RPM and 1000s at 5000 RPM. However they state above the test at ¾ of maximum revs, on my bike with a 14k red line it would have to be under 105 db at 10500 RPM.

epic fail Crying or Very sad

111 db at 10000 rpm

need to get a db killer or stock exhaust.

Poor bike didn't sound happy being revved to 10000 rpm in neutral.

Had a wander around the circuit while i was there.
Was a lotus track day which was quite entertaining.

The chicanes look harsh and there isn't any real left hand corners.
Looks pretty fast though.

Not great, they use it for testing tyres for the TT.

The surface really isn't that bad, I did a taster up there with bike safe and couldn't fault it, they're also very good with newcomers. It is true the TT guys test up they're but I can't see any reason not to use it.

It's also true about not many left hand corners. I think they'res only a few so you've got be a bit careful with how hard u accelerate out the corners on them, I'm hoping to get up there next month.

Can i also point out that the noise testing should be done at 45deg from the exhaust outlet and not directly behind it.

The exhaust wind noise plays a factor in making it louder, it should be done as an 'ambient noise test'.

Warning - when I did a trackday there they did mixed groups (adv, inter and novice all on track at same time).

Was good fun .. but scary when Ollie Brooks (r.i.p) came past me 3 times in one session while testing his personal R1. Shocked Shocked
