i just saw the thread the ressurection, and the bloke done a great job seemingly working in the street. i have to do that too having not even a drive let alone a garage.

sometimes i love it on a dry day having the crack with passers by, in the bad weather it is plain shite tho. and of course every time i go in i have to take all the tools ect back in as scallys are many-fold round here.

it got me wondering how many others have to do this? hence the poll.

In my garage Thumbs Up

Although, that's only because I have one....If I didn't, I'd still use the street like you do.

You need to find some way of hybridising the two, so you can play Wagner while riding around on your 1400cc doom machine. Ride of the Valkyries + an Akra can = good times.

Used to have a shed/garage. Moved, only have a back garden, need to put up some kind of roof / plastic cover or something where I can work on it whilst dry.

Why people buy houses without the space for a garage is beyond me.

Back in my 125 days I once did a rebuild (following a crash) in my 2nd floor bedsit.

During the rebuild I had occasion to go to the toilet and left the the door to my room open only to came back to find my landlord standing in the doorway staring at bits of oily 2 stroke scattered about the carpet.

So I'm thinking "oh shit, here comes an eviction and I can't afford a deposit on a new place". However, it turns out he was an ex-British grass track champion and had done the same thing in the past, so, not only was he cool with it he even lent me a few tools.

Because we're not all on mega bucks?

Thankfully i've got quite a lot of space in the back garden and a utility room for all my tools. Can even fit the bike in the utility room if i have to.

Failing that i nip down the road to my dads house.

Cheers,
Shaun.

i spose the next question is, those who have garages and enjoy the luxury life, would you still have a bike if you had to do it in the street? Wink

Working in the street is a pain in the backside. I remember one fateful courier trip to the big smoke in the early 90's on my beloved Zed400. Stopped for a coffee at a 'Little rip off' and couldn't restart her. No tools but somehow managed to get the points cover off and then readjust the points - with a fork stolen from said pitstop!

Faced with a choice I'd rather have a workshop than a home*.

*Which is lucky 'cos I've got a workshop and had nowhere to live for the last three weeks(or the foreseeable future)!

I am not well off, just a normal guy with a normal job. Perhaps this is a north south issue, I only live in a semi. Even council houses have garages where I live.

Normal guy (debatable), Normal Job, from the north, not many vices, and I still have to live with flatmates in a house with no garage...

Although I find its usually down to how close to Town Centre you are as much as the price.
