hi all,

when the wheel is spinned the chain does make a funny sound as follow, is this normal?
it looks like as if something is grinding down there but all looks good when i look at it, apart from a bit of play in the transmission sprocket which i think maybe the cause of the chain vibration when slowing down and the sound but no expert so will ask for ideas

Have you checked for free play in the back wheel for possible worn bearings allowing the chain to hit the guard possibly, but you have also checked that you've got the correct amount slack in the chain too?

Your chain is properly oiled and each link moves freely enough?

Also, that your rear wheel alignment is correct?

Have to admit there is a strange clunk sound at the odd times?

Doesn't sound right to me.

Is there any play in that chain, hard to tell but it looks bowstring tight. If it is put the correct amount of slack and see if the chain is still noisy.

Check the splined shaft holding the front sprocket. It should have absolutely no play up and down or side to side (in and out is okay). It runs through a bearing and that can be damaged by running a chain too tight.

Your chain is miles too tight. Put it on the sidestand and adjust it until you can get hold of it in the middle and move it up/down about 25-30mm.
