I've seen it but you may want to change the thread title to something a bit less spoilerish for those that are yet to watch it.

I put a fiver on Redding to win and a fiver on Cal e/w. £54 winnings, happy with that.

Bloody good ride really, if he hadnt dropped back so far at the start he could have been racing with Dani.

Perhaps he should fracture his shins more often?

Rumour mill says he will be heading up the new Suzuki team next year?

Love him to get a 'works' ride, but neither Ducati or Suzuki, do better to stay with Poncheral if possible. Suzuki will be starting from 'scratch' and Ducati a short cut to retirement.

I would prefer Suzuki over Ducati any day though

Suzuki were mid table with Bautista. Bautista is now firmly mid table on a very close to full factory Honda. I'd say that bodes well really.

It seems like the only option to me, Cal is determined to get on a factory bike. The Ducati is shit, unless Rossi jacks it in there won't be a place on a Yamaha or Honda and he could be forced out of his Tech 3 seat by Yamaha forcing Pol Espargaro in there (whether they still want to do that based on the way he is performing vs. Redding is another matter).

We'll find out if its got promise at the Barcelona test anyway - if I were Cal I'd go to Suzuki and have them build the bike around him.

Got to admit that I like his 'Shit or Bust' riding style but like Cal he is in a situation of too many great riders and too few competitive bikes.

Nice idea, but there's no way Suzuki will take Scott Redding when there are so many established names looking for a factory ride; the list HAS to be topped by Cal Crutchlow, but lets not forget this is a Japanese manufacturer looking to stage a big comeback, so don't be surprised if an overrated native rider with lots of sponsorship finds his way onto the second bike... Aoyama/Kiyonari, anyone??

My bet for Redding would be Marc VDS moving up into MotoGP with one of the new for 2014 Yamaha "customer" works engines in a Kalex frame.

Kiyo's busy digging his own grave in BSB this year, doubt even a Japanese factory would take him as a rider for motoGP now, and Aoyama just not been able to make the big bikes work for him either.

Maybe Takaaki Nakagami from moto2 as a 2nd rider? was doing well until he binned it at LeMans and has been pretty impressive overall this year.

Yeah, Taka did cross my mind, he seems to be by far the only Japanese rider showing form at world level right now. I'd be happy to see him scaring the top brass next year! All depends on whether he has the personal backers, i guess...

Redding would be more attractive for Suzuki, if he wins moto2 this year they will look at how Marc is doing so far [possibly wins?] and decide new talent is a better bet.

Possibly, he'll be an attractive proposition for any team; the question is whether he'd leave Marc VDS for anything other than factory ride.

There are so many established riders (great for development) in the frame already, Scott would be lucky to land that seat at Suzuki. I'm working on the logic that Mr van der Straten will be writing blank cheques if Scott wins Moto2 this year. We know he can ride a Kalex, and I'm sure they'd have no qualms about designing a GP chassis to comfortably fit his lanky frame.

Scott Redding finally on a bike that actually fits him, AND with a factory engine? I can't see Marc VDS letting that prospect slip through their fingers!

Randy testing the Suzuki again, he might be an attractive prospect if there isn't a Japanese rider worth promoting? good test rider with a lot of experience probably coming towards the end of his front-line career would give them a reliable person on the 2nd bike for race data with minimal crashing.

He managed to crash on the grid at Le Mans last year!

heh true, but in comparison to other mid pack riders.. Bautista, Carel Abrams, Petrucci, Barbera? he doesn't crash that often and he's been around enough to be able to put long testing stints in and give consistent feedback to the team.

Do we know if Paul Denning has a hand in this new motoGP effort? I've got a lot of time for him and he might be able tempt someone like Camier from Suzuki WSB.. maybe Haslam or Rea - that WSB Honda is going nowhere.

Davide Brivio (Rossi's manager) is running it from Italy.

This article gives a good analysis of Cal's options:

https://motomatters.com/analysis/2013/05/28/silly_season_speculation_quo_vadis_cal_c.html

If I were him I'd push all the way for a full factory Yamaha at Tech 3 (and the comments in the article from the Monster boss would be a pretty big deal for Yamaha) in the same vein as LCR. If thats not an option, see how the Suzuki is after the test.

He's around 2 seconds of the pace now on an ART.

The ART may get a pneumatic head next year; the Kwak engines almost definitely will. To quote some wild speculation those CRTs will gain at least 20bhp with pneumatic valves fitted next season so the goalposts for Suzuki could change again Wink

Cal's a great rider but his emotions get the better of him off the track. Does he have a manager; because if not he fucking needs one!
