Hi all,

my rear brake seems really weak . i have just bought this bike as some may have read my previous posts

the strength of it is around 1/10 of the front brake . it is kind of hard to push down as if it needs bleeding . also the pads have a bit left but again it does lock when pressed hard

i was doing around 15 mph and it did lock the rear but does nothing to stop the bike. my 125 rear brake is stronger than this

is this normal or something wrong in there?

also if anyone has sv650 what is the running temp as mine is alway around 100 to 105 degree while in city and traffic lights and 85 or less in highway
is that normal, what is considered hot in bike ?

for instance car temp is usually between 80-90 and 100 and above is considered high and 120 is very hot

thanks

Perhaps you should reconsider your braking technique.

If the wheel is locking, the brake is working, might still need a bit of attention though. Sportier bikes place more weight on the front wheel, meaning the front brakes are more effective and the rear brakes less so. Was your 125 a cruiser style by any chance?

I suggest you have a read around on the subject and draw your own conclusions Thumbs Up .

EDIT: Running temps seem fine btw.

those temperatures are much the same as my R1.
I am right in assuming the sv650 has a rear disk brake fitted....
probably wants a strip down & dam good cleaning followed by inspecting for wear of pads aswell as a stickin piston and a greasing up of mounting bolts & pins... not the pins that hold the pads in !!!

well i was trying to say is that my brakes aren't any good even compared to 125 basically useless at speed and only relying on front

i didn't mean to say i am using the rear brake to stop the bike but just feels really weak and am concerned
