Afternoon all,

I off for a 3 week blast around Europe next week and was planning to cross from France to Spain through Andorra on the CG-2 from Pas del la Casa.

I suddenly had a thought, what are the chances of ice and snow on that road at this time of year? Call me a pussy, but I don't really fancy ending my holiday by sliding off and watching the bike disappear of the side of a mountain!

Has anyone got any experience of this road in early summer?

I have similar worries - leaving on Thursday to go to Geneva for a week on the bike Shocked

On a more general note many of the Alpine passes are closed exceptionally late and the week ahead does not look promising with a further cold plunge.

For example a cycle race over Galibier was cancelled yesterday due to difficult sections and risk of avalanche.

This is way down near the Med and I recall going over it first week of May without problems but there was plenty of snow at the roadsides near the top.

Pyrennees are not that high but you could expect more snow about than normal. It would be unlikely to be closed or difficult more than a day or so by June.

I was hugely disappointed with Andorra, but if that's your aim, you could ride out towards Puigcerda from the French coast, don't remember the road but I think it tops out at the Col de Puymorens. Good bit is that if the weather shits on you there's also a tunnel which you can get into Spain through. Smile

Still exceptional amounts of snow over some of the passes.
This is a cyclist video from The Swiss/Italy border just a day or two ago.

Also SW France and Pyrennees are being affected by flash flooding at the moment.
