Could you try the quick fix of some unleaded rather than piss in a jug? |

It would just mix in with the other crap in there though. Also forgot to say have tried injector cleaner in the fuel too. The bottom on my tank probably looks like the bottom of the ocean ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

yeah but if you saw the state of the fuel I feed this car you would understand it has to be fuel related Actually here's a pic of what came out the old fuel filter, bearing in mind this had only been on the car for around 2,000 miles:

The petrol is actually filtered after being removed from the old cars but it's not really enough, but for the price I pay I won't complain ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Fook me that's nasty shit your feeding your beloved Rav4!
I've got 1/2tank of V-power in my car that's been sat for 7months. You can come and have that if you want, as I'm not sure I want to be using 7month old petrol in anything other than a lawnmower engine? |

If I lived closer I'd be over with some hose pipe and some containers
Have cleaned the tea bag filter on the fuel pump today, it was absolutely filthy and looked like the fluff catcher thing on tumble driers... and yet the car still runs like crap Must be the injectors, which aren't as cheap as I thought originally, only paid £150 for the car not really worth bothering with.

Annoys me that it was so dirty and the car still runs the same, you'd think it would improve some what. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

It probably wouldn't run.
What I would do is whip the injectors off into a bath of redex or injector cleaner...neither of which I'm sure do much and just give them power to work through a spare battery or some shit, let them clean themselves in that scabby mix |

They are pretty well hidden away, looks like a lot of work for something that probably won't work
We changed the fuel pump today, with a Vauxhall Corsa one oddly enough. That made no difference though.
I am a bit confused as to why there's been no engine management light on what so ever... It would make life a lot easier. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Usually abbreviated to MAP sensor it should be located somewhere on the exhaust manifold. If it is really dirty with carbon or crap from your fuel it will run with the wrong fuel/air mixture.
Cost nothing more than a bit of time...!!
wodge |
Do you really mean the MAP sensor? (if it has one that is) or are you thinking of the Lambda sensor, seeing as you said exhaust manifold?
I do agree that trying some proper fuel in the car once, the fuel filter is changed/clean, and possibly the fuel pressure checked at the rail, is a good move.
I don't think the OP is ready to resort to pump unleaded yet though! |
