Hiya Peeps,
I have a problem that I am hoping someone can solve for me. The riding school I am currently with and the other 2 in my area all use a Suzuki Bandit (600cc) for the A tests. Trouble is it is physically way too big for me to ride (I must have short arms ). My husband has a Yam XJ600N that is perfect but I cant get insurance to ride it as an extra on his policy.
All the companies we have contacted have said I need to be the sole rider before they will insure me but my husband uses the bike to get to work every day with no other means of transport.
My CBT runs out in Sept 2013 and I was hoping to have passed my MOD 1 and 2 by then. Can anyone suggest a solution please. I'm getting desparate
Cheers |

I'm confused, if you don't have a license of cource you can't ride it?
Mine cost me £300 to insure for the year TPO, it's hardly much for your own policy
Oh I see, to do your test on.... Ring the riding school, explain this, they may be able to insure you on it with their instructor insurance, but your hubby will have to drive it to the centre for you, you can pillion ____________________ Fzr-600 1999

'sup, sista.
Bandits are solid lumps, I don't blame you for looking elsewhere. I'm surprised that all 3 schools are using them though, I thought they'd be onto something like the ER6 by now.
I can't suggest any, but we've heard tell that there are insurers out there who will cover provisional license holders on non-Learner bikes.
Now, insurers will tell you that you "can't" have two policies on one bike, but that's unmitigated drek. There's nothing in law stopping you getting your own policy (ideally third party only) on hubby's Divvy. If you can persuade one to take your money, you're golden.
And here's something that I'll just toss out there. If a bike is on the MID then you've very unlikely to be tugged by the fuzz. And the DSA only asks you to sign a bit of paper saying that you're insured to ride the bike.
Those are just facts, I'm not suggesting anything. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Hubby says he is gonna renew his insurance a month early and include me on it. If I dont pass before September its another £90 for a CBT anyways so we'll have to see. Thanks for the help guys ____________________ What is a motorcycle? A motorcycle is a single-track, engine-powered, two-wheeled motor vehicle.
