Is this the American unit?
I ask as flashing brake lights are common in Yankieland. Have been shown to be better as drivers behind are quicker to react to the flash. However, that system is illegal in the UK.
So don't know if you have that system and if it can be switched on/off.
Failing that sounds like it's the usual automotive electrics volts, connector, current issues. I know they do a wiring harness, is this needed to control the LEDs in any way? ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

No idea what was causing it. Mibe the battery was running low and attracting a greater charge but its all sorted now.
