Went out today on my CG125 1989 to the local shop, came back left the bike on the front and went inside. Just checked on it and the left hand side panel has been snapped off. One of the lungs was already snapped anyway.

Now I don't mind riding without the side panel however I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on covering the battery/electrics when it rains Question

None that I can see that would fit and that aren't part of a full set (tank and both side panels £60-70).

Just fix the side panel, drill a hole and cable tie it on or something

I rode my cg for a few months with no side panels and the battery exposed. I had no problems at all, even when using the electric start in the rain Thumbs Up
