I was at the BMF rally at the weekend and I played Motoball on the Saturday and the Sunday.

If you have an old scrapper of a bike that is 250cc or below , you might be able to give it a new lease of life and get some more fun out of it before it goes to the great scrap-yard in the sky.
I`m a member of the Hayes & Southall MC and we have a team, but are always looking for new teams or members.
We have/had a wide variety of bikes used as motoball bikes.

Every thing from a CZ 125 to a TS 100 to a TS 250 to a Bultaco Pursang to a Kawasaki Z250 and a whole lot of others.

Some of the lads are running old XL 250`s , so two or four stroke, it doesn't matter.

it`s a tough game but fun.
Four riders on each team and one goal keeper on foot.
He`s safe as riders are not allowed in the D-area.
I wont go into all the rules here and now it would take to long.
We even have referees to ensure it`s fair Shocked

I`m glad to say that I scored a goal in the first game Smile .

The ball is a lot bigger than normal and this is so it doesn't go under the bike and spit you off.

It can be fast and quiet bruising.
Falling off is mandatory Laughing , however we all wear body armour so , so far all is well.

If any of you would like to get involved/interested, feel free to pm me and I will gladly give you more information.
I`m sure we will be at the Copdock Classic Bike show later on this year, and we would be glad to see some interested souls, even if that is just to watch.

I have made motoball bikes from A-100`s , PE 250`s & CZ 125`s so any bike 250cc or below has the potential to be a motoball bike
The modifications are not that hard and easy to remove.
Sorry but cast wheels are not allowed (H&S issue) .
You don't have to be young to play motoball, as long as you are over 18.
The players I know range in age from 18 to 62, so if you are relatively fit? and able to ride a bike , it could be a sport for you Smile

So what`s that bike sitting at the back of you shed/garden going rotten?
Could it be a motoball bike waiting to happen?
You would be hard pressed to find a cheaper bike sport to start with.
My first motoball bike (CZ 125) must of cost me the princely sum of £100 including buying the bike and building the ball-guards.

Oh yes! I`ve got the bruises to prove it Shocked

However we all wear body armour , gloves , boots, shin-guards, elbow pads, knee pads and a bash-hat.
We are also aware of how easy it would be to hurt someone or for someone to hurt us.
For that reason although we play hard, we try? to play fair.

There are rules to stop the worst things happening.
It is Motoball= a game amongst people who know each other and are friends?????? Smile

It is not Rollerball= a game to the death Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Smile

Motoball is quite big where my family come from in Baden State (south west Germany). They showed my a game long before I learned to ride and it's brilliant I think.

Wish it was more popular as it's seriously entertaining and must be great fun to play.

I have nothing of substance to add to this thread, other than more people should look into it!

I/we went to Germany a few times to play.

We played in tournements in Kespier & Leverkousen (not sure of the spelling)

I have the title of being the only Englishman to be sent off in a match Shocked Smile
We were playing a Dutch side and one of their players slapped me with a glove, so I kicked him and we both got sent off Sad

Somehow and sadly I dont think another British Motoball team will be competing on the continent for a good while.
However If we can get a few more people interested, all the much better for the game in this country.

Anyone who is genuinely interested and prepared to commit some time and effort can come to a meeting.

There`s a show? (details later) on in Kent in July.

We don`t just let anyone get on a bike and ride : it does`nt work like that. (Safety issues & cost)
I can put people in touch with our club so they can get more details if they PM me
