Hi all
Me again with another long question i'm afraid ..
In my Kawasaki ZX6R 2005's owner manual and also the online PDF version, it states the valve clearance interval to be 15,000 miles for the US/Canada bikes, but on the 'Other Than US' chart i go by for my UK bike it says valve clearance should be done at 26,000 miles so i'm a bit clueless as to which is right and why theres such a huge difference on each interval
PICTURE OF CHART HERE - https://i39.tinypic.com/30ucods.jpg
The main reason i'd like to know is my bikes now done 17k miles [was restricted to 33bhp from 2k-12k if its relevant], and since changing my spark plugs/oil/filters the other day and the bike running a bit smoother and quieter i've noticed a very faint background tapping sound particulary when idleing/with clutch held in or at low speeds, it may be there at higher speeds also but its obviously too hard to hear with the engine noise at that point.
Is this likely to be valves or is it possibly just a 'kawasaki tick' i've heard people say is common in the bikes, as its not particularly prominent.
Thanks if anyones got any info |

Most likely down to warranty claim/liability issues.
Some states in america are extremely strict on vehicle maintenance and emissions. So companies change their service schedule in america to suit these states.
If you're worried about yours give it a check, will only take a few hours. ____________________ Current Bikes:Honda 929RR Fireblade, Honda CD200 Benly (Project), Stomp Z2 140

Ah that makes sense thanks aff.
Yeah think i might do a check just for peace of mind then, if they do need adjusting i think i might chicken out and pay someone to do them as thats a bit much for my level of 'expertise'... or lack of expertise as is the case |
